Re: Alarm siren battery
So I think the best and most cost effective solution here is to remove the offending battery from the existing alarm siren, clean up the pcb with the alcohol cleaner, then replace with the common all garden AA rechargeable batteries in holder, that way there will be no future obsolescence problems A...

Re: Alarm siren battery
OK great thanks Please see attached for info including the damage. Main concern is the ic adjacent to the terminal but if this one is u/s then I will have 2 others on order that I would put a new battery in For info for others I used a bare hacksaw blade and gently cut around the seam of the outer c...

Re: Alarm siren battery
Most informative and helpful Maclee I will probably go down the 150 mah route for the spare replacement battery and see what the condition is of the 2 used siren units are Still baffled as to why the so called brand new Chinese copy didn't work but cannot be arsed to remove it until I have the repla...

Re: Alarm siren battery
Yes I thought about the lower capacity battery and protecting the pcb from leakage I now have a 2007 replacement ordered and one from a b7 that looks the same It will be interesting to see exactly what's inside the Chinese copy as it has made things worse rather than better! I assume the replacement...

Alarm siren battery
Hi all So in common with a lot of b6 owners the alarm siren has stopped working throwing the 01143 vcds code for no signal on my 2007 140 TDI sport. I ordered a flea bay Chinese copy and fitted yesterday but now have 00323 no signal to inclination sensor and 00135 no signal to interior monitoring se...

Re: Any problems disconnecting battery for months (B6)
For what it's worth I have disconnected the battery for several months on a b6, b5.5, mazda bongo and alfa 147 jtdm for exactly the same reasons The only thing you may need is the radio code as the system can forget this over time but if you have upgraded then it's no problem If you are concerned ab...

Re: B5.5 bulkhead grommet
Thank you for the reply
It's not in the diagram unfortunately
It's actually a bung rather than a grommet in the firewall engine side of the battery and is not listed on any diagram on parts websites so I guess I need someone to get the number physically or at a local scrap yard ?

Re: Towing a '57 B6 TDI Sport BKP
Thanks for the replies, It looks like I will be favoring the braked trailer option as I used the Insignia to take a caravan weighing 1200 Kgs plus a full boot a couple of months ago the same route, the difference being the caravan stayed so the return was much quicker! It may just be simpler to take...

Re: Towing a '57 B6 TDI Sport BKP
Hi Ray Thanks for the reply I was thinking about using an a frame so it wouldn't need 2 persons the car is in great condition and running with current tax mot insurance etc but I am not sure what unbraked weight is possible as the b6 is a heavy car and I would be towing approx. 1200 miles over Europ...

Towing a '57 B6 TDI Sport BKP
Hi All, Probably a strange question but I was wondering if you could help please? I would like advice on how far it would be possible to safely tow the above car and the most cost effective but SAFE equipment to buy. The tow car already has a towbar and the Passat is a 6 speed manual so I assume it ...

Glow Plug Light Flashing, Low Power
Hi all Car in question is a 2013 1.6 Bluemotion TDI Estate with 6000 miles Thought at first it was some kind of regeneration for the cat.... Was leaving the motorway after "booting it" uphill when fault occurred, would not go over 3,000 rpm and plug light flashing, reminded me of limp mode...

ICE Upgrade Options Any Ideas?
So I have a 2007 (57) B6 140 tdi sport with the standard factory fit single cd player and no steering wheel controls I bought the 6 cd magazine on e bay cheaply for the glove box but have not got around to fitting it (the idea was a simple way of replicating my 2001 pd 130 sport that now lives in Gr...

Re: Wireless parking sensors
I have fitted them to a Mazda Bongo (the sensors were wired to a transmitter module locally to the rear bumper that I then situated in the rear reversing light cluster). The main receiver unit has a feed from the front cig lighter socket. Has worked well for 2 years now with the very occasional blip...

Rear Shocks Under Warranty or not?
Hi All My 2007 TDI Sport Saloon (approx 42000 miles) has had the injectors done under warranty at the local stealers, but then I noticed the dreaded rear tyres wearing uneavenly on the inner edge and reading the forum decided to try the rear wheel alignement at a local Auto care centre (not Thick Gi...
