MY B3 2.0GT 16V when I was driving it averaged 35mpg and did 42mpg on a 1700 miles round trip to France and back on holiday. That was me, wife, 3 kids and luggage in it! My current B4 16V is roughly the same.

Fixed!!! Unbolted the alarm unit, switched it to off with the key and then refitted the unit. Still no lights on the dash but the ignition light was on and the car would still not turnover. I thought the battery was flat so stuck my booster/jumper on it and then it started?!?!?!? Battery was fine be...

I have a problem with the Alarm/Immobiliser on our B4. It's a Quantum one as fitted to many of the 90's VWs, VAG Part Number 998 VAG 038. I believe these are rebranded Scorpion alarms. I had the battery out while repairing the car and now when I reconnect the battery the alarm goes off after 50 secs...

I was coming off the motorway on to a sweeping fast bend of a slip road that takes you onto a dual carriageway. It was 11.30 at night and the road is unlit. The deer was just standing in the middle of the road. I had just enough time to veer to the right a bit and hit it smack on the bum!

Either they hit it at 170mph or it was an elephant in disguise! LOL!!!

The motor is the same one but from a golf. It was RHD. The motor can't be fitted the wrong way. It's probably another faulty motor or stalk/wiring according to one of the peeps on clubgti.com.

We got two spares for the Jetta and an extra for the Passat done by Timpsons earlier this year. Only £12 for the three! You sure they were thinking of the correct key??? Mine are just normal keys.

Actually, looking back through the previous auctions for the car, the February MOT might be typo. The first auction states it expires October 2011, second one has September 2011 but February in the description as well. The latest one does say September 2011. Still very odd. My B3 GT 16V averaged 35mpg generally. Best I got was on a 1700 mile round trip to France and back when it did 42mpg! That was me the wife, three kids and luggage and 80mph on the motorways! Tremendous. Best in my B4 16V has been 39mpg on a long motorway trip. Does about 35mpg generally as well.
