235/35R19 Alternatives

245/35R19 is closest rolling diameter and 235/40R19 seems reasonably close still. I think i could get away with either without rubbing. I'm a bit fed up with wife kerbing wheels and thought slightly wider rubber and very slight increase in sidewall height might fend off some kerb damage from wife. T...

Sunvisor replacement

Illumination of vanity mirror has stopped working. 100% not bukt since i swapped with other side and swapped the light so it appears the sliding mirror cover must have a failed switch. I have purchased a replacement but dont see hiw it can be changed without dropping the headliner. Anyone done one b...

Re: Is this oil any good?

? You didn't recommend Gulf Formula GVX ! I see what you did there :ymapplause: that would be a nod to the Le mans 24 hour i happen to be a fan of that starts next week. I am sure the quoted oil is a great oil, however at TPS prices i wouldn't consider anything else for the sack of a couple of quid.

Re: Is this oil any good?

I accept you can get a bargain here and there but you generally get what you pay for. The 'meets maufacturer standards' and 'manufacturer approved' have a similar ring to them but have very different meanings and implications particularly if vehicle is under warranty. Some cheaper oils are made from...

Re: What did you do to your Passat today?

Had new discs and pads fitted. Took the opportunity to paint the disc centres, calipers, backing plate and any exposed suspension. Did the same to the rear. Wheel retaining bolts and covers painted black satin and new centres on order. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170529/fcad65080f88498a13f2f5...

Re: Start stop not working 2011 Dsg diesel

Well the good news never lasted long. Yesterday the car wouldn't start so i ended up putting a new battery on the car.
It immediately cured the stop start. I tested the old battery at work and the test result said to replace.

Is it item number 1 on this epc?
Looks like it could possibly be a drain channel above the grille but under the scuttle.

Re: What did you do to your Passat today?

Halogen side lights fitted to replace the yellowish standard non halogen bulbs. Not a significant difference but they do match the nightbreaker low beam and they have no bulb warning errors. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170504/fa0dabe05d63ef8d8b948eda16cd539d.jpg Sent from my SM-G935F using Ta...

Re: What did you do to your Passat today?

Didn't do anything to it but my 2012 brochure arrived today. This is something I've kept with every car I've owned. Ordered some blue halogen capless sidelights to match the nightbreakers. Led number plate lights as standard on xenon CC?

Reading through the 2012 brochure it says that the led number plate lights are standard when specified with optional bi-xenon lighting. Can anyone confirm this?
I've love these on my non xenon car.

74% remaining. My thoughts were that this was too low for auto stop even though there is lots of life remaining. If you have a battery management system that's a slave/subsystem of the CAN Gateway then it might be worthwhile going into Long Adaptation - Size and see whether your Start-Stop will ope...

Re: Start stop not working 2011 Dsg diesel

While in the workshop today the battery was not coded to the car. So it was put on charge then coded to the vehicle. The battery life was determined to be 74%. The start stop was active in the system however it made no difference on the way home. I can only pit this down the the battery life being l...
