Can anyone please tell me if it is a lot of hassle fitting a tow bar to a 1998 saloon tdi. Wondered if the electric connectiosn are hidden or is it splice into current wires also mounting points.

Ok So i finally got around to sorting this out
opened the control box - dry inside no sign of damage
I unwrapped all the black cable wrap that covers the big trunk of wires that runs to the control box under the passeneger seat I found there are 3 different "splices" where several wires are all ...

last year we had a major spill into the passenger footwell - turned out underneath the battery was full of water. Drained and Cleaned it all out and also found the seal had gone around pollen filter. Had a new seal installed by VW and dried it all out .

well I never got a chance to look at the car as the inlaws came down
however Tuesday morning all the locking started working again
now it has been raining between the sunshine so I have got no idea whats going on with it as I havent touched anything since my last post

the aricon comperessor on ours has gone bent
VAG want nearly a grand to replace (its seized) local aircon specilalist want £650 includes clean out regas etc

Well I whipped the door card off and came face to face with some sort of silver metal panel
undid the bolts and couldnt get the dam thing off to see behind it

Looks like the drivers door mirror has packed in when it comes to heating up

Ok so was an inch of water slopping around the battery (now sorted)
Removed pollen filter and there was a bit of water and leaves inside it. I noticed the foam seal was half hanging out and soaking wet so I guess thats where else its been running in from.
Going to to get it to vw garage for a new ...

Local VW garage confirmed today compressor has seized which prolly explains why belt was removed
They want £1300 to replace renew etc lol
I said thankyou but I think I will just put the window down if it gets too hot

i heard a sugestion its an aircon belt - possible that its a seized compressor so the belt has been removed

Father in law gave us his old S plate Passat 1.9 TDI (110 BHP) version
When i had a look inside the engine bay (please bear with me I am not to great on mechanics) I could see a couple of pullys that appear to not have a belt on them.
Now everything on the car works fine but seems odd to have 2 ...
