That's brilliant, thank you. I'll pass it on to my boss and see if it is that!

Random interior light problem - brake related?!

Hi folks, back on the forum for the first time in nearly six years since I sold my B3 and B4 estates. I've got a question from my boss about his 2014 B7 - it's a 2.0TDi Bluemotion, and he's come to me this morning saying that the interior lights by the rear view mirror keep randomly coming on. Stran...

How close are B3s and B4s?

Mechanically especially? Despite it's poverty-spec, I love my B3 wagon, but I've not bonded with my B4 TD anywhere near as well. Thing is, 15-20mpg more out of the B4's AAZ motor is persuading me I need to keep it! Plus the much higher spec with electric windows, power steering etc makes it a more s...

Re: GT B3 clocks into a non GT B3

I had exactly the same thing - the motor will also stumble when you try to rev it. I've gone back to my original clocks but raced the faulty temp and fuel gauge to a dry joint on the PCB.

Re: Make your AAZ TD faster

Anyone know if Johnboy got any further with this? I've recently bought a B4 CL estate with the AAZ engine, to replace my B3 L estate (1.8 petrol). I'd like to know how to increase the power and torque of the AAZ to the same levels (or higher!) than the petrol one. I use the B3 for towing a caravan, ...

Re: B3 temp gauge not working

On mine there is a dry joint on the PCB, and it knocks out the complete left hand side of the cluster. I get no temp gauge, fuel gauge or warning lights. I'm having the cluster out to re solder it over the weekend. it works if I give it a squeeze. You could have a dry joint too?

Re: B3 GT Arches on b4 wagon?

I bought a GT kit off Mocco the other week for my B3, and thought I'd eye it up against my B4, just to see what it's like. I reckon if you separate the arch off the piece that lines up with the side trim, it'll fit.

But as said before, fix the rust first.

It might be worth posting on the Mk1 Golf owners club forum - it their Annual Gathering this weekend in Uttoxeter. I'm going with my better half in her cab, so I'll look out for this car, or even bits from it. I'll get her to post a link to here on their forum when I'm back this evening.

Re: J PLATE PASSAT ESTATE HELP!!!

My L-spec B3 estate has had the oil pressure buzzer beeping at me a few times (see another thread on here!) so I took it off the road when the tax ran out at the end of April. On saturday I had it MOTd and it passed, well chuffed having not even started it up for just over two months! Anyway, point ...

Best way to do an engine swap?

Ok, my 1992 B3 estate has finally had enough - the oil buzzer has decided that it would rather be on than off, and I can't keep turning up the stereo... at 165k it's about worn out, but the suspension and brakes are still pretty fresh as I went through them for the MOT, so I don't really want to scr...

Re: B3 Water temp gone through the roof!

Mocco, I'll change the senders - I did take them off and wash them out last year, thought there may be something in them as I'd get a random light come on then go off again for no reason! Typically found the problem on a Saturday afternoon after GSF shut... Cleaned them out and no problem since. Tha...

Re: B3 Water temp gone through the roof!

Well I fitted the GT clocks - fuel gauge worked but the temp gauge, rev counter, clock and indicator lights didn't, and it gave the car a horrible stumble off idle, so I changed them back again, after having a look to see if I could find out why the temp gauge wasn't working. There was nothing obvio...

Re: B3 Water temp gone through the roof!

Nice one Mocco, I've got a set of clocks from a GT, so I'll fit them and hope they work! A friend also suggested fiting an override to the fan to get control over it, so i'll do that too. The mileage is 165k, which is pretty high I suppose, so it could be faulty senders or switches - it is an old ca...

Re: B3 Water temp gone through the roof!

I've got a similar (well, temperature related!) query with my B3 - 1.8 petrol L Estate - so I thought I'd add to this thread rather than starting a new one! Last summer on the way to Shakespeare County Raceway I got stuck in the roadworks on the motorway, and the engine got hot enough to flicker the...

Re: Water, water everywhere.......

I've got a moist rear passenger footwell too - but my rear washer squirter isn't working at the moment, so I assumed the pipe had split. I've only got a poverty-spec L estate so no roof rails, but obviously has the blanking strips. Could it still be coming from the roof? Would no rails equal no holes?

Re: Thinking of going diesel - advice please.

Just having a good look on here about diesels B3's and B4's and was wondering how they get on with towing. I've got a B3 Passat estate, 1.8 petrol-powered (poverty spec L-model!), and to get the other half along to the drag racing I need to get a caravan there - she doesn't "do" tents! We'...

Re: do mkII golf door handles fit a 91 passat

I need a drivers side RHD one for the front of my 91 B3. GSF do new ones for £18 or so plus the VAT, but I thought I'd have a look on here first. Anyone breaking one and have a ha ve a pair - one for me and one for Snott?
