Re: b3 stereo wiring - help!

Nice one Matt! I think I'll cut into the power to the heated window switch - that is close enough in location! Not sure if the cigarette lighter is switched, think it lets me charge the Ipod when the car isn't running. I'll have a go at the rear window switch! 8)
Thanks, Neil

b3 stereo wiring - help!

Just after a bit of help with my stereo wiring on my 1992 B3 Passat L estate, especially related to colours and a switched 12V feed. Bought a couple of new stereos today (Tevion 1293 model from Aldi of all places! CD, MP3, usb and SD card all for under 40 quid! :D ) and fitted one to my girlfriends ...

Re: Water in rear. Where it come from?

Mine does the same - Took the lights out to repaint the rear quarters and now they leak. Going to add a little vaseline to the seals to stop water coming in, then tighten the buggers up!

Re: Hello - and fuel gauge problem!

Jon, my '92 1.8 petrol estate does exactly the opposite - fuel gauge and temp gauge don't move at all! except for the other night when I braked hard and then they came on for a couple of minutes! I suspect mine is a loose connection, but yours is more like a short - perhaps in the sender which is se...

Re: Extra cooling required when towing?

Brilliant, just what I was looking for! I'll leave it for this weekend, then chop the bumper about if it does get a bit warm!
Thanks! :)

Extra cooling required when towing?

Fitting up a towbar to my B3 tonight so I can tow my accomodation to drag race meetings. Nuts and bolts and wiring is no problem, but when I was searching for info for towbars, I found one fitting site which said I'd need to uprate the cooling - presumably because of the lack of grill on the front! ...

Re: My Latest Mod

I really wish the firewall at work didn't block pictures! This all SOUNDS mental but I'll have to wait to see it all at home! While we're on ideas for body mods - how about a roadster pick up? Cut off everything roof-wise except for the windscreen frame, and make up a removable hardtop that covers t...

Re: Losing a lot of water. Where to look?

Had this with my Golf - turned out the plastic flanges mentioned above had cracked and it allowed a slight dribble. They can't really be permanently fixed, but a temporary repair can be done with araldite and flange sealant. Only proper cure is replacement. :(

Seat Ibiza EPC fault!

Just thought I'd add a new topic here - might be of use to someone! My girlfriend has a 54-plate Seat Ibiza and it recently let her down on the way to work. As she was driving, the EPC light on the dash lit up and the car wouldn't rev above 1500rpm under load. Looked it up in the handbook and it sai...

Re: new b3 owner!

half smoked rear lights are quite rare- expect to pay upwards of £60-80 for a full set! they do come up on ebay.de occasionally, but they were only fitted to B3 VR6 spec cars, which are very rare in themselves! I'm going to half tint mine myself - a mate of mine has done a few sets of Mk2 ...

Re: Lowering a B3 Estate on the cheap!

Hmm! Thanks Nick, that's given me a bit of food for thought. I don't really want to spend megabucks on the car as it didn't cost a huge amount, and I'd rather put any spare cash into my Beetle project. Might take half a coil off the front springs, see how that does it. Are there any other spr...

Lowering a B3 Estate on the cheap!

After a bit of advice - I'd like to bring the new 'wagen down a bit but I'm a bit of a newbie when it comes to water-cooled stuff. I'm handy enough with a set of spanners and I've got a 2-post lift in my unit, but I need to pick some brains! This is the beast - 1992 Passat 1.8L, basic as a ti...

Re: yes another newbie (brummie)

Morning all! Thought about starting my own thread but then saw this one... I'm another new Midlands member, from Wolverhampton! Just bought a '92 Estate to replace my '93 Golf Driver as my daily driver - I may be an aircooler through and through, but I like to keep the dailies in the family! N...
