Re: worn ignition key-NOW SORTED
turned out that it was the ignition switch as the 1 from gsf (£12.48) was not the right type, got 1 from volksbits in brum for £4.79 and sorted problem. it seems the volksbits 1 has a longer centre plunger/actuator in the switch so when the ignition key is operated the barrel actuator pin makes a ...

Re: worn ignition key
Excuse my ignorance but by spline adapter do you mean the adapter that the steering wheel fits to at top of steering column, if so I presume I need to remove the ignition barrel casting from column to access removal of switch.

Re: B3 GT Estate Query
I'd say that the £150 one has issues that are not a quick fix as the original ad did state it had been stood for several years, and then it was bought and not sorted but price hike is a big one

fuse 21 blowing
Central locking, interior lights, clock fuse has started blowing, changed for new fuse with key out of ignition and blew again straight away, any ideas what the cause could be, only seems to have started since speedo lights started working again, as they haven't been for the past 2 years

Re: help on buying a b3.
I'd ask seller to put it in for mot just so you're aware of any problems and cost, especially as previous owner said it had been stood for few years, I'm sure for cost of mot whether it passes or fails it would be money best spent before paying his asking price.

Re: Any info on B4 wagon mods?
mk4 golf seats fit in front with small mod and theyre more readily available and cheaper and more comfy than mk3, i picked a complete set up from a bora in mint condition for £10 from ebay last year.rears are obviously more fiddly to fit.

Re: problems changing gear
To check if seals are passing in cylinder, operate clutch pedal and get someone to check if fluid level in bottle rises, if it does then seals in master cylinder ate passing. Cheaper to replace clutch than master and slave cylinder if you do it yourself as each cylinder is about £50.
