Yep,i always try to use the dealer or atleast genuine parts.Just in the past 6 months its been into dealer for timing belt,tensioners,water pump,new discs and pads front and rear,new brake caliper and lastweeks visit for the radiator and thermostat now this.Can't be much left to go apart from ...

Thanks for the reply and link Mindriot,going to phone vw on Monday.I would get dmf done at the same time as clutch while everything is apart.Bloody typical everything happens when i'm due to go on holiday it was just in at vw last week for new radiator and thermostat.

Driving back home today overtaking car infront,4th gear foot down car started off fine until revs climbed up to near 2500rpm then got a weird noise,car hesitated,revs jumped a bit then settled could this be the start of my clutch on the way out? I remember reading somewhere if you listen to each of the sensors while reverse is selected you should be able to hear a ticking noise coming from each of them.

When i bought my passat second hand from a garage there was no sound from when you put into reverse and thought it was f***ed anyway a year later i decided to have a look and all that was wrong was the beeper under parcel shelf was missing got one second hand,fitted and been all fine since.

I get a similar noise from my 130tdi just as i lift off the accelerator a bit as i change gear i also get a shinging (metalic) noise when accelerating which i hear more at about 40mph just before changing to fith gear don't know if you get the same.

Looking good,know what you mean about the roads and speed bumps up here.
