Back again.

So I left for a wee while. My mother needed a motor, and I wanted something else, so I gave her my Passat and bought a P38 Range Rover. Big mistake that one, and I lost a lot of money after the head gaskets going within the first 1000 miles (not before I spent about £900 servicing it all). Anyway, t...

Re: Best / Cheapest starter motor?

Had my mechanic look over it, and he checked the alternator, and said it looked fine, and was most likely the starter motor that would be the culprit. Car is on 155k now, and I have no evidence of it having been changed previously. Here is where I said I had my mechanic look over it today. That bei...

Re: Best / Cheapest starter motor?

Yeah, I know the S doesn't stand for Sport, more like poverty Spec, and put it up as I knew it would probably mean the car had a 5 speed box. Didn't know they were different mind you. But did think it may have been relevant. I'll speak to the old dear and see what she wants to do. Thanks for the help.

Best / Cheapest starter motor?

Think the starter has gone on my 130 TDI S. So looking for a replacement. Who makes the best reasonably priced one? And where should I get it?

The £76 RTX one on ECP looks mighty tempting, and the car will only really be kept for another year or three tops.

I didn't think it was up to much to be honest.

I did like Ipman though. And Ipman2. Both were excellent films.

And Warrior was good too. That guy was an absolute animal.

Jdh. All that's in these liquids is nicotine (Apparently not the bad stuff in a cigarette but only an addictive substance) the rest is vegetable oil & E numbers that we find in every day food. So rather than dying of cancer vaping you'll probably become obese lol OMG. Really? Vegetable Oil and ...

While the above is true, many of these dealer fit extras are meant to be declared also, as they can increase the value / desirability of the vehicle.

Or so I have been told in the past by insurance companies.

Hello guys, my 2.0tdi 07 plate is driving me mad and towards bankruptcy. The diesel is burning away like nothing else. Got in the car yesterday after work and I had a range reading of 85 miles. When I got home I had a range of 40. That is after a 6 mile drive. This is crazy, I can't sustain this fi...

Re: Learned my lesson with budget tyres

Having used kuhmo for the past 8 years i would hardly put them in a budget category, they are a reasonable price and have got dearer, but fantastic grip on the various cars i've used them on, most notably my mk3 fiesta track car. They tyres have lasted over 3 years now, including many trips to sant...

Re: Learned my lesson with budget tyres

To be fair, for me at least, the likes of Falkens and Khumo are budget brands. They are now, and have always been, as low a brand as I'd go. I have bought wheels and tyres before with other brands, but I would always strip them off the wheels, punt them on, and replace with decent rubber. It's just ...

Re: LPG

I run a 4.6 V8 Range Rover on LPG. No really noticeable difference in performance as far as I can tell. I'm seeing around a 25-30% drop in fuel economy on LPG rather than Petrol though, but in all fairness, that's from 20 mpg down to 14 mpg. So only really a 6 mpg drop. But with LPG being half the p...

If you're going to have a car like that, I'd want all the toys.. or at least as many as I could get. No half measures.. I was the opposite. My S4 didn't have ANY toys. No Nav, no Bose, no cruise, no armrest no nothing except carbon fibre trim (possibly standard?), heated leather and split/fold rear...

I have had Falkens in the past, and they are a quite good tyre, but as said above, they dont last very long, so are a false economy. I have Vredestein Ultrac Sessantas on my 335d just now, and they are excellent. Good grip, good road noise, and they have been on for about 14,000 miles and still have...

Re: 1.8 T Versus 1.9 TDI

Had a couple mapped 1.8T's in the past, and a V6 4mo (all mk4 Golfs admittedly), and now the 1.9 TDI in the Passat. It depends on what you want out of the car, as to which one is best really. If you want outright speed, then neither is really fast enough (and neither is the 2.8 in all honesty). But ...

Re: Has anyone owned an audi S4 before?

Both manual and automatic have their plus and minus'. The auto will achieve magainly better fuel economy on the motorway, due to revving lower at 80 mph, but the manual is more fun, but expensive clutch replacement at the age / miles these are on now. Leather shouldn't be too had to find. If that's ...

Re: Has anyone owned an audi S4 before?

I had one for 18 months. Great car. I had the saloon, and really wished it was an estate the whole time I had it. I would have said that's a bit strong money wise, as I only got a little over 6k for my sub 100k saloon about 2 years back, but then that one is an estate, and looks good. So as long as ...

Mileage can be verified for free via the mot checker online.

I wouldn't be buying from a dealer without either that getting done or enough money off to get everything you want done. If the dealer doesn't do it, there are plenty other cars out there.

They are A8 wheels. I think off the W12 originally.

But people often make the mistake of referencing to them as RS8 wheels, despite there being no such vehicle

Ha ha ha. It remaps well beyond that. I was disappointed to find my map to be "only" 320 BHP and 480 lbft. Was hoping for 340/500, but I know a tuner who gets 355 BHP out of them. And yes, obviously loosing only the 10 mpg for all that power is great. But the fact remains that the Passat w...

The longer warranty batteries have more cold cranking amps and ah/reserves. Typically a 3 year is 640A 4 year is 680A 5 year is 760A As well as longer lasting they're better batteries. I wouldn't complain about driving a BMW 335d over a Passat, lol. Thanks for that. Ha ha ha. Yeah, I do love the 33...
