a 5q0 received can be used, as long as it is flashed to the correct software. I can help you with this if required

Re: Steering lock fault - round two!

You can get a ccm for £20-30. Bring it to me and we can give it a go, nothing to lose at this point, and I’m confident it will clear up your issue

Re: Steering lock fault - round two!

I can clone the immo data alone from the old ccm to another replacement. No special tools are required apart from my eeprom programmer

M6 Yes

I have a spare pair of hinges if needed

There is nothing between them, just bolt together, im guessing yours has just gone rusty and corroded apart

Re: Automatic tailgate question

You can clearly see the passenger side lever arm is missing the bolt.

Healthy motors will operate the tailgate on their own as a single motor. Not sure what has broken exactly on yours. I have an old pair of motors if you need parts for yours

Check when the fuel filter was last done, it’s probably due if your friend hasn’t changed it. I do oil change on my CR engine every 8.5k miles, and fuel filter every other service

You could be right, it came from euro car parts, and they are well known for their knock off parts. It’s just a particularly bad experience of a replacement drop link

Avoid TRW. My nsf was replaced 20k miles ago and it’s failed already. My osf is still the original, 205k miles old and still fine. Clearly the trw are a load of poo

Easy job to do. Valve went on mine so replaced the whole compressor with one off a 1.2 seat Ibiza. Direct fit, paid £30 for it, took me 20 minutes to fit

Re: RNS510 Map update and firmware update

You can use same maps as before, just need firmware then depending on current version. You can do the method of holding the setup button for 10 seconds and see if it brings up the hw/sw info. If it’s already 5238 just need to load the maps, or I can sort you out the firmware

It doesn’t work like that, there is no relay specific to auto or non auto, it is controlled by the cecm

Remove the cluster and surround, and you will see it if you look to the bottom right of the hole. Or through the right air vent. There is a few ways of getting to it

Re: Steering Column Lock Defective; Cure?

Easy to fit with vcds. It’s located behind the climate panel. And 7n0 gateway from a b7 passat will be fine. If you take the keys out the ignition and don’t lock the car within 10 seconds you will get a warning message on the dash, but the column lock won’t cause any further issues.
