Re: limp-home: 005522 Altitude/Boost Pressure Sensor issue
Thanks for the commentary. The old sensor wasn't particularly mucky, but there is what can only be described as a 'flap and a bell-end' within the sensor housing, these were aligned within the housing quite differently to those in the replacement one, so my first thought was that something mechanica...

limp-home: 005522 Altitude/Boost Pressure Sensor issue
After the "implausible signal" we have an "Implausible Correlation". Looking like this, on the reading from the live blocks, with the motor off: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v627/diamondhell/PassatFault_zpsipgeo1j8.jpg As suggested in this thread Full text of the fault in VC...

Re: 2.0 140 TDI non-starter - swarf in timing belt cover
The cam position hall sensor ring had fallen off previously and someone prior to my tenure had welded it back on, the b*stards. New cambelt, cam sprocket, with hall sensor ring (revised, apparently), tensioners and waterpump fitted. Happy there's been no valve to piston contact.... and the next faul...

Re: 2.0 140 TDI non-starter - swarf in timing belt cover
Implausible signal obviously will drop the motor, but I think there's something mechanical in play putting the signal out, rather than the sensor failing.

2.0 140 TDI non-starter - swarf in timing belt cover
Pulled up yesterday and noticed an odd rattle but it was running fine, after about an hour's drive - if it was an older car I'd say it sounded like the tin on the back of the timing belt cover was loose. Shut the car off, came back out after an hour and it wouldn't start, tried to run a couple of ti...

Re: B6 140 Sport estate 4motion
It was basically worn out. Having inspected both on my car I concur with what has been written here and elsewhere: a bit of mud and water gets under the bottom of the plastic housing, between that and the alloy caliper. This causes the alloy to react under the rubber sealing ring. The sealing ring i...

Re: Dension BT Gateway - audio cuts out Handsfree & music
I'll run it again tomorrow. I've contacted the seller I bought it from, who hasn't come back yet. They did respond last time and were dealing with Dension. Is there a pinout for the Quadlock connector? The only thing I'm thinking is that where this car had handsfree previously and there is a 'MUTE' ...

Re: EPB fun and games
Once it shat itself originally I was so worried it might lock on I left it off! Even on the ferry across the Solent (I tried not to think about the potential for it jumping out of gear and cruising back and forth around the car deck on the hour's crossing) Not much chance of me over-working it as so...

Re: B6 140 Sport estate 4motion
Crushingly inevitable electronic parking brake fail last week.
Now have VCDS and lead and replacement caliper, so diving into this little job tonight.
From Ross-Tech's wiki it looks like there's about seven recommended procedures to code in the new caliper? WTF?

Re: Procedure to change car battery
Traction and steering light obediently came on when I fired it up after swapping the battery. Went out a few hundred metres up the road. :-bd In changing the battery I also found the reason the battery was tired - it was a GM badged battery. :D I'm guessing that the B6 probably works its battery har...

Procedure to change car battery
2007 140TDI Passat. The battery appears to be near the end of its life, brought out by the recent cold snap. When I went to price check a battery on GSF, the description said: A change of battery must be registered with the control unit Does that mean VAG-COM at the point of changing the battery, or...

Re: Service indicator - 3000 mile drop - cause for concern?
It said 'Service Now' so I responded and serviced it now - service indicator now reset, so we're on 10,000 mile intervals, which served us well for over 100,000 on our B5.5 Passat.

Service indicator - 3000 mile drop - cause for concern?
We've only had our 2007 B6 2.0 140BHP 4mo for a few weeks. A couple of weeks ago the service indicator popped up, to say 3600 miles until service - no sweat I thought - our B5.5 130BHP 4mo just counted down like a clock when it started. The B6 then counted down steadily until 3000 miles, at which po...

Re: Sunglasses holder removal
So, I got this out eventually. There are a pair of clips that stick up that clip it in. They need pushing back as the top of the unit is eased down. I also had to remove the A-pillar trim, where you have to pull off the AIRBAG badge - lever it out at the bottom, as the top tabs stick further out: ht...

Sunglasses holder removal
Can't find the info here, although I've had a search. I *suspect* this thing 'just pulls out' but I don't want to 'pull' my luck and ruin a (no doubt expensive) piece of trim. I have the interior lights out - levered the hinged bit open. I have removed the front screws, I suspect there is a pair of ...

No idea what TP1.6 and TP2 are. Here's a picture of my dash pod. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v627/diamondhell/20151206_183444_zpspdt00kmr.jpg I also checked for whether there is any ESP light coming on when I turn on the ignition - there isn't.
