Re: Drivers side front door lock

Finally sorted the problem ~x( it turned out to be one of the very fine wires had broken in the door harness in the rubber boot that goes to the main car body approx 3" from the multi plug. I had checked these previously and found one heavy brown wire and two fine wires broken or near to snappi...

Re: KMB Balance shaft install

Mine was a bit on the awkward side as it was chain drive which meant i had to lock the chain adjuster remove the bolts and then drop the balance unit leaving the bottom chain sprocket in situ. The only other part I recommend is the tiny circlip that retains the hex shaft in the oil pump 50p from vw....

2006 2.0 tdi sport driveshaft

I went to my local vw dealer to get a new drive shaft bolt and it was not until I got home that I noticed it was Allen key type as opposed to the hex head one I have ? Is this likely to be correct or have they given me the wrong one.... Thanks in advance :-bd

Re: Another BKP oil pump failure

KMB Parts Direct , remanufactured balancer shaft and new hex key , sub £500 fitted. If there is further turbo and engine damage it's expensive #-o Agree with you there .... since doing mine I feel much more at ease with the car and lucky that when it went no further damage #:-s ....soon be clutch ...

I am just curious especially with vw,s usual denial of any known faults as to what went wrong with the engine and the reason why they contributed so much ?

Re: HELP MAJOR PROBLEM :-/

Sounds as if there is still oil in the intake somewhere ... possibly the intercooler itself ? My lad had a similar thing with his Bora a few years back... a seized turbo which was replaced but he did not clean out the intercooler and it sucked a gut full of oil out of it which hydrauliced the engine...

Re: Gear driven oil pump smashed up!

Still in the process of doing mine which is chain driven. That was a really useful post, thanks. So it's impossible to check the state of the balance shaft keyway until you've removed the whole balance shaft assembly? I bought my B6 @ 100k and although I have stacks of receipts / service history et...

Re: Gear driven oil pump smashed up!

Yep balancer was completely toast even tried new 100mm key that came with kmb balancer kit and that would not grip if in doubt modified balance shaft is the way to go !!

Re: Oil pressure warning light!

Correct mate when I removed mine there was minimal wear on the original 77mm hex but it was spinning freely in the balance shaft, even the new 100mm hex that came with the modded balance shaft spun freely in the old balance shaft !!!! modded balance shaft hex drive old shaft fine spline !!!

No idea mate ? I have ordered the shaft and key .. just waiting to get the locking tool for the balance shaft.
The guy is very helpful and has told me I can lock off the chain tensioner remove the sprocket then drop the balance unit without touching the cambelt ... fingers crossed !!!

Re: Gear driven oil pump smashed up!

Sump nearly off just got one awkward stud at the pulley end ... my socket hex drives are to short to reach it as there is limited space so I will sit and have a coffee then try and find a long reach allen key, I don't know if its a hopeful sign but I just filtered the old engine oil (500miles) and t...

Re: Gear driven oil pump smashed up!

Because of the special tools etc for cambelt removal etc I had vw change mine when I first got the car ... basically for peace of mind. I have been looking to see if the cambelt has to come off for this fix but keep running up against a brick wall :( Guess I will be buying them now anyway !!!
