Re: Water in both rear foot wells
Hi Gaz, thanks for your reply, I didn’t realise the door seals rotted, I had to sort the seal on the drivers door because I had the inner panel off to replace the electric window cable and in taking the panel off the seal got damaged so I replaced it. Am I right in thinking the seal holds the water ...

Water in both rear foot wells
I’ve had issues in the past with the blocked plenum drain causing flooding in the front foot wells, today with it having rained persistently all day both rear foot wells are soaked. I noticed the water has come in over the door sill, when I opened the doors water is sat all along the door rubbers. I...

Cleaning interior plastic
Does anyone have a recommendation for a good cleaning product to clean the plastic around the central console, I’ve tried flash type wipes but because the plastic has a slightly sticky feel the wipes just stick to it

Re: Tyre wear inside edge
My local garage said speed bumps can cause wear in the inner edge, we have a lot of the square speed bumps where all the weight of the car is on the tyre edges when you go over them

Re: paint 12year warranty
I would be interested to know how many VW owners have had the front wings replaced free of charge as i have been told repeatedly that VW are only honouring goodwill for the first 10 years. I am going to fight this and have commented on VWs facebook page, I don't think they liked that very much but i...

Faulty Alternator
Hi guys, wondered if anyone had seen this happen before ? Not sure if i've got the terminology right but it looks like the pulley has come out of the centre of the alternator as it's jamming into the fan blades and stopping the fan going round. The belt has come off the pulley too and is wrapped rou...

Re: electric window
Ok so tried disconnecting the battery, shorting the cables together for 20 seconds, reconnected the battery, the radio came on and displayed safe and then changed to 'learn' so I did the open window and hold button down for 5 seconds and then same for up and it now works properly again.

Re: paint 12year warranty
I'm going to try small claims court, a 12 year anti perforation warranty is what it says regardless of what VW say. There are no exclusions in the print in the manual.

Re: paint 12year warranty
Just found this thread while looking for something else. Local dealer emailed me very quickly to take the car in for inspection. Dealer entered details on the computer, computer said no, ie no goodwill offered as the car is over 10 years old. Dealer phoned VW UK customer services who wouldn't offer ...

Re: electric window
Thanks Phil, i have already tried that with no success. Interestingly though, after the initial attempt to close the window and it automatically opening again, subsequent tries it doesn't do it again until i turn the ignition off and back on again which suggests there is nothing wrong with the rubbe...

electric window
Hi guys, i recently fixed my front driver side electric window with a kit from Amazon, cable had broken. Put it all back together and seemed to be working fine. Found that when i power the window to fully close it there are 2 problems, first is that the auto close function no longer works, by that i...

Me too, however i found out it had a plastic spindle that you can just pull out with pliers to release the cable guide.
