How to find front springs for my B7 140 bluemotion sport estate?
Hi all I've spent an age searching fro new springs for my car and cannot find any that I am confident are correct. I suspect 312mm is the correct free spring length fo my sport model vs 348mm for the non sport. Anybody got advice on how to identify the correct springs? Anybody know what the correct ...

Re: Pressurising the coolant
Thanks for the advice. Im aware of oiling and the youngs modulus bolts and agree that any further tightening will take them past the stengthening stage of stretching towards the weakening stage and their elastic limit. Just wanted to know what someone clever thought and what you've said makes comple...

Re: Pressurising the coolant
Or I could try nipping the head bolts slightly. I did follow the procedure correctly, which off the top of my head is tighten the bolts to 40nm ish in correct sequence, then 90 degree in sequence, then another 90 in sequence. The gasket and bolts I used were from ebay here: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm...

Re: Pressurising the coolant
Well the car is now pressurising the coolant even when driven carefully and blowing it out of the drain on the bottom reservoir (via the cap I guess). I swapped the oil cooler for a second hand £10 ebay one. It was an easy swap jobwise but the problem still remains. It is possible that that the repl...

Re: Pressurising the coolant
I'll check with Bates's to see if they pressure tested the head. And I'll try the oil cooler next. My gut feeling is a head gasket would still leak when the car is driven gently. But the oil cooler would be less likely to leak at lower RPM's, so the fact that my car is showing less of a problem when...

Pressurising the coolant
I got ripped off on ebay with a 2005 Passat AWX estate. The owner hid the problems and I was in a rush when buying. I know better but its a lesson learned ...... anyway: Bought the car in mid October. Next day realised the heater matrix leaked and the cooling system was pressurising. Probably both p...

Re: 5.5 1.9TDI intermittent juddering/shaking
Its fixed! I installed a new injector loom today. It was a bit tricky getting the old one out and I had to displace the air intake pipe behind the engine slightly. I was a bit worried at one point: one of the metal clips from the old injector loom slipped down a tunnel past the head towards the bott...

Re: 5.5 1.9TDI intermittent juddering/shaking
Do I have to take the cam cover off to replace the injector loom? If so I can check the cam lobes when Im in there. I bought a new injector loom on ebay for £66 today, so that should be here next week. Here are the scan fault code results: 18039/P1631 - 35-10 - Accelerator Position Sensor (G79): Si...

Re: 5.5 1.9TDI intermittent juddering/shaking
I'd read about the injector loom, but what made me think otherwise was how it would be juddering badly, but after pulling over, switching off and restarting, the car would run faultlessly. Here is a readout: Chassis Type: 3B - VW Passat B5 Scan: 01,02,03,08,15,16,17,19,35,36,37,46,47,55,56,57,58,75,...

5.5 1.9TDI intermittent juddering/shaking
Hi there I have got a worsening problem where the car violently judders when accelerating. If I turn the car off and on again, sometimes the problem is cured for the whole journey, however far. It seems like a lack of fuel getting into the cylinders, and power is slightly affected. Im not sure where...
