Re: P0299 - Boost pressure regulation control range no reached
Update. After trying everything else, the turbo was sent back to the reconditioning company. Turns out the vanes cage had a crack in it, which was causing it to be misaligned and lack of boost at low revs. They fixed the issue and sent the turbo back out, it’s fitted and the car performing like it u...

Re: P0299 - Boost pressure regulation control range no reached
So everything looks good with the turbo, it wasn’t sent away, but my mechanic was given some tests to do (which he’d already done) which indicates the turbo is working correctly. So something else must be causing the lack of boost and triggering the fault code. The car was smoking really badly and o...

Re: P0299 - Boost pressure regulation control range no reached
All of the above has been double checked by my mechanic with no issues found.
Turbo is going to be taken off and sent back to the reconditioning company for ‘testing’. Hopefully this will shed some light on what’s going wrong.

Re: P0299 - Boost pressure regulation control range no reached
So my mechanic checked the setup of the actuator on the new one and it matches the old one that’s still there, opens at 5psi and closes at 17psi if I remember correctly. The code has been cleared, but comes back as soon as I get the warning light back on. Sometimes it doesn’t show up once I restart ...

P0299 - Boost pressure regulation control range no reached
Hi all, I’ve recently had a reconditioned turbo fitted by my independent garage, mine was like a police siren and was well on its way out - 117k miles on the original. After the turbo change I picked the car up and got straight on the motorway, after about 40mins I get the flashing glow plug with ‘E...

Re: Disc pads cost
Thanks for the detailed reply Mitch, much appreciated.
I'm getting a knocking noise and a wobble/vibration through the steering wheel under braking, which I'm hoping will be rectified with new front discs/pads - even though it recently passed its MOT with no advisories.
Cheers

Re: Disc pads cost
Sorry to bring up an old thread. I'm after some help with front discs/pads this time. Assuming I need 312mm dia discs, not 345mm? Pads, there are a few different sizes: Width [mm] 156 Height [mm] 66 / 71 Thickness [mm] 21 or Width [mm] 155,1 / 156 Height [mm] 73 Thickness [mm] 20 or Width [mm] 155 H...

Re: Detailing Help
It looks like the white paint off the trolley has just transferred onto the car, didn't seem to be uneven like a scratch might - wouldn't come off with a damp cloth, not tried anything stronger at the moment, was waiting for advice.

Re: Disc pads cost
Thanks for all your help guys, I'd not heard of a couple of those manufactures, so I'll keep an eye out. At least I now know what size I'm buying.
Cheers.

Detailing Help
So I was putting a trolley stand in the boot yesterday for work and just caught the lip of the boot with it. It's left a while 'scratch' where the paint has come off the trolley - see pictures. I'm not one for detailing other than the 2 bucket method, and have never dealt with surface marks before, ...

Re: Disc pads cost
I won’t be changing the brakes myself, just thought I’d take advantage of the ~45% off, which has now expired. CP4L - Brembo discs/pads £154 (£84 with discount) AutoDoc - Brembo discs/pads £83 Mister Auto- Brembo discs/pads £82 There are a lot of choices on AutoDoc, I only selected Brembo to show pr...

Re: Disc pads cost
So it’s a case of wheel off and measuring the diameter to see what’s fitted?
Was hoping to take advantage of this offer before it expires.

Re: Disc pads cost
I’m looking at replacing my rear discs and pads while there is an offer on carparts4less - there are two different options for rear discs 310 or 282mm diameter, then the pads to match. Mitch mentioned 282mm dia rears, is this size standard or should I pay the £20 extra for the 310mm (if they would f...

Update:
Called my local dealer this morning, unfortunately they didn't recognise those part numbers, but I was able to get the right parts using my pictures along with the diagram above. £12 for a new cover cap. Sorted.

Brilliant, thanks.
Does anyone know any sites I can source this from, or will it have to be a main dealer?

Part Number?
Hi all, Does anyone know the part number for the black housing that sits above the rear view mirror (pictures attached). This had obviously broken and the previous owner tried to DIY it back together with zip ties and electrical tape. So I'm after a part number and hopefully somewhere I can buy it f...

Maybe I should get take it for its MOT in April (expires in August), then I've got at least a year to figure out what to do?

Re: New MOT rules regarding dpf (May 2018)
I bought a B6 privately just over a year ago, which had dpf and egr removed and mapped out - I was unaware of this at the time of purchase.
There must be a hell of a lot of people in the same boat as me, anyone got any advise?

Re: recommend some tyres
The Asymmetric 3 and the RT2's are practically the same price, anyone tried both?
Also, potentially stupid question - do I need the 94 or 97 load index?

Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2. Continental Contact Sport 5 Dunlop Sport Maxx RT Uniroyal Rainsport 3 Michelin Pilot Sport 3 all excellent tyres. Re: Has my car been remapped?
So the fault code is:
sensor 1 for exhaust temperature bank 1 (G235): short to plus P0546 short with power
My mechanic knows VAG inside out and is going to sort it tomorrow for me.
