Re: free-ish genuine front lenses
Sounds like a good idea but my sisters already bought new lights so the old ones are still up for grabs if someone else wants to give it a go?

free-ish genuine front lenses
My sister has a pair of genuine hella B4 headlights however the plastic mounting tabs are broken off after a slight front end 'nudge' into another car, so..........
does anybody want either some lights with broken tabs.....or.....
some undamaged genuine glass lenses to replace chipped or cracked ...

thanks howey
the car's 80 miles away from me so i'm starting to think this might have to be the one that got away as i'm not brave (foolish?) enough to be a gambling man, tho I might give the current owner a call to see if he has a clue and is willing to share

Hello again all
Not been on for a while after my B5 1.8T wagon died (soon to be broken on my drive) & I've had to use my missus's 1995 1.8 N/A diesel fiesta. Hmmmm lovely.
Planning on changing things around again tho as I should soon have the cash for my next passat, hopefully a B5.5 TDI 130 estate ...

Go back to the stealers & tell them you want to use them for your cars servicing needs which would work out to be a couple hundred quid every couple of years, BUT... only if they stop being so ar5ey about giving you the code for nowt. I used to work at a renault dealers & if someone suggested ...

You've got my sympathies mate,
someone reversed their car into mine, but they did leave a nice note for me, it said "next time don't park so close, the damage was from my towbar" then they left.

Nice to see you're getting more use out of my old 2.0 16v lump matt!
All this talk of euro adventures in B3/4s makes my drive to the alps last feb seem lame as I was in my 99 B5 with all the mod cons they contain. Did break a wrist snowboarding & have to drive 1500 miles home tho!

Re: How do you disconnect alarm?
lift the bonnet & justforward of the pollenfilter housing you should see the alarm horn. unclip the multiplug so it's no longer wired in & hey presto, no more middle of the night alarm noise. Did this to mine after pollenfilter leakage & it stopped it going off altogether, even the flashing ...

think my B5 1.8T is going terminal so considering scrapping it & buying a B5.5 1.9TDI, had enough fun (current car chipped, surprises all the local saxo boys!) & going for dependability instead. Completely opposite idea to you

Nice collection you've got there, must be hard to decide what to go out for a drive in!
Surprised to see no 1977 westfalia though, guess what my project is?

Re: Infuriating wipers
Thanks for all the ideas, I'll try twisting the wiper arm slightly, lubing the spring & re-seating the arm on the stud, I've had mine off for filter housing issues but the problem started before that but can't hurt to make sure.

Infuriating wipers
I've a problem with my front & rear wipers that's driving me crazy, to the point where I don't like to use them, even in quite heavy rain. when using the rear wiper the arm will skip on the upstroke leaving a series of lines where the blade has juddered then sweeps ok on the downstroke clearing the ...

Re: A DARK DAY OF CAR MODDERS EVERYWHERE
Seriously, in the days of scrapyard mountaineering did anyone ever actually go to a retailer and pay for any bulbs, fuses or relays? I used to go to my local yard regularly & walk out 1/2lb heavier. It saved lots of cash if you didn't mind testing each item to make sure they weren't duds

I had a B4 2.0 16v wagon but sold it to matt who's now put the engine in his B3 saloon.
Sold it due to running problem & now2 have a B5 1.8 20vT. Which is nice.
I'm a bit of a 'dale fan myself but currently have a santa cruz with pace twin crowns

Re: taking out passenger seat
Also, between the two nuts under the front of the seat ( the seats not yours  ) there may be a pointy black plastic cap. After the nuts are removed squeeze the two halves of this tab together as you slide the seat back and it should pop through the hole it sits in as it's attatched to the seat ...

Sounds like you've mullered the wheel bearing to me tho I'm just going on past experience as I'm no pro mechanic.
Probably best to take it to your nearest freindly garage if you don't fancy doing a swap yourself as you really don't want it failing completely on you
Hope this helps

My car also has a leak in through the base of the pollen filter housing so I've got a new seal for the base as well as a new plastic scuttle panel as someone posted on here that it's likely the old one will break when removed & it was only £9 anyway. Going to fit these parts when I get a chance ...

Hey NickBab
I'd suggest doing the same as madrob6 & take out the carpets to dry for quite a while, mine's coming out this weekend & I'm putting the seats etc back in & running the car without carpets for a month or so despie noise/heat issues. Just thought it would be better to leave it out until I ...
