My 58 plate CR used to do that.
My brand new Tiguan does it too... I guess its normal

i think it depends on style an 18" with long thin spokes can look bigger than a 19" with fatter spokes

do it yourself... Its easy,
remove bumper and the holes needed are marked on the back.... everything you need is included.
wiring is simple.
That said the dophin kit isn't the best!
the cobra kits are better and they are what VW will sell you as a dealer fit option (just VW branded)
