Re: OEM vs aftermarket springs

I had the same dilemma and ended up going for full set of Eibach springs for something like £120 delivered from Germany. I guess where will be more users who did the same. The only trouble is changing front springs is not as easy as the rear ones.

Re: Passat B6 2.0 TDI Sport (140PS) inlet manifold/turbo problem

You could try and find plastic manifold without flaps, when you can re-use your current bolts. If you replace with alloy one, when I believe current bolts are a bit too long. See below: Today I took inlet manifold with flaps and put new one without them as the old one was yet again leaking where the...

Re: B6 Wing Mirrors rain spray

yes, it's is annoying. Rainex doesn't really help much at least not for long, I just got into a habit to clean mirrors and side windows more often. In my case mirror heating is set to be on for 2 min from start so that I have mirrors free from mist/water drops, but that tends to accelerate accumulat...

I would guess it's a condensation dripping down from due to use of aircon, used to have this with my B5.5, I guess B6 would be the same.

Re: Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor replacement.

I did mine from the top. To get to it I've removed airbox and intake before turbo to make some space. Short open end spanner is your friend. In my case old sensor was so tight that I had to use crow's foot spanner - with extension bar it did the job. It's very tight but doable. https://lh3.googleuse...

Is your intake manifold with swirl flaps? IIRC swirl flaps open/close at 2100 rpm. I remember I used to get similar thing as you described if I gently and steady accelerate in that rev range. Just a guess.

Read your policy carefully, as you may find that if you make a claim you will not get any no claim for that year. I've posted this in the other thread some time ago: It does on some unscrupulous insurers that hide it in the small print, can't remember who it was but I am sure it was someone on here ...

2l may not be enough, depending on gearbox. Some take 2.3-2.7ltr of oil.

Could be input shaft bearing in the housing have developed a play. This normally affects 1st and reverse being difficult to engage/disengage.

I have replaced mine on the drive on axle stands. You can wiggle the box out without dropping the subframe but it's more complicated. I've used bottle jack and engine joist, bottle jack to support engine, and engine hoist to manoeuvre gearbox. Time wise the car was off the road anyway, so I didn't r...
