The brochure for the 2012 Passat Sport says that the item is a RNS 315 which includes a DAB tuner. My December 2012 Sport is fitted with this. Photo below shows the RNS 315.

My control knob looks like this:
As per handbook heats only at an ambient <20°C. My car is 2012 140TDI Sport Saloon.

Just drive - should sort itself out.

If you switch it on you can feel the warmth with your hand so no need to wait for a misty morning. Do you have a heated symbol at 1 or 2 o'clock on the control knob?

To switch on the wing mirror heater on my 2012 Sport I need to set switch to the one/two o'clock position.

My B7 saloon is fitted with a light in the boot area from new.

The radio actually loses the signal.

Often when I have my RNS315 tuned in to Radio 4 on DAB it will drop-out as the last of the time signal 'pips' are broadcast on the hour. Is it possible that water has entered the clutch and rust is locking it up so that it will not release? This could be tested by selecting a gear, depress clutch and get someone to try and push. If it won't move suggests clutch is not releasing. Could it be released by getting a tow with gear selecte...

I have monitored fuel consumption since I bought new my 140 Sport Saloon. To date it has an average MPG of nearly 53. Data based on brim to brim top-ups. See graph below.

The door also has to be fully closed. Some time ago I had accidently only closed the drivers door on the first latch and the auto hold failed to work. OK once door fully closed.

Is it the electric hand brake or auto hold that is not working. I had a scare a while ago with the auto hold not working and it was due to drivers door only being on first latch and not fully closed.
