Sounds like you were going to do that anyway, I have known people change just the clutch with no problems.
If theres no labour cost then all should be ok if you have to do it again, that's what normally makes you do them together or a dmf failure

Re: in cockpit Vibration 2003 AVF 4motion passat
Dont try to weld the flexi bit it will just low holes, it's possible to cut and weld in a new flexi piece if you get measuring. Bit of a faff taking it off etc to do it but a flexi would be alot cheaper

Re: The inevitable dipstick tube..
I've found genuine ones a bit tight on the dipstick but the ebay/aftermarket are a bit looser. Sometimes better with a little oil and use
They are all a pain to fit on the metal guide tube though!

Knowing that road you and the passat were certainly very lucky! The bit to the left is a lay by so the car was trying to do a u turn rather than going a touch further to a roundabout!!

As above any later treatment will do, I have some autoglym cleaner and then some kind of balm that adds moisture back into the seats. Does a decent job for the money

Re: rear offside ABS sensor
I'd be happy with either of those brands maybe worth the extra couple quid for the bosch one.
Check the end of the sensor for damage from the magnetic ring before fitting a new one too, have seen a few swell up and rub the end of the sensor away

I didn't think the sump was too low on a b6, much more likely to hit the sub frame from memory. That's probably why there isn't a engine riser kit like the old mk4 golf etc.

Pretty sure the pd150 head bolts are 12.9 tensile rather than 10.9 on pd130 so yeah better tensile strength should help head lift

Those valves were fitted as the mk2 golf era of matrix were known to explode, I've always done away with them and took a chance or fitted a mk3 golf era matrix.
Bypass them for now see if the problem goes away

Re: Airlock in cooling system after replacing thermostat.
If the heaters work and temp gauge doesnt go above half way it is fine, I doubt very much there is a airlock.
The bottom hose will only get warm when the thermostat opens, which as said above wont really happen much at this time of year.

The pressure sensors are a fairly comman failure, more than the actual dpf. I would be getting the oe dpf professionally cleaned as the after market ones are junk

Re: Heater matrix size of connections
Are both hoses nice and warm when the cars up to temp? If its sludge in the matrix in my experience no amount of flushing will budge it and its dash out with new matrix time!
I've tried with a hose pipe down the pipes of the matrix before it's almost the right size
