Re: all done

Bobman, What sort of space was there to work with. I've got the belt at the front of my engine to replace as it's a bit worn and starting to squeek when cold and looking at the space between engine and radiator it's only about 3 inches on my car. Cheers Move the front into service position, lots of...

You need to test the battey. Sounds like the current draw of the starter motor is killing it.

Check out Bobmans 312mm disc write up...am sure he talks about different calipers needing different fittings etc, If not in here PM him and he will probably give you some info. http://www.ukpassats.co.uk/phpbb/viewforum.php?f=33 It depends on what calipers you start with. ATE calipers are the same ...

Re: STILL getting cooling issues

Is it a cambelt driven pump or a seperate one?

Glad its sorted but I would have thought a failing water pump would have caused overheating, strange things cars sometimes.

To be honest, as there is 'heavy duty' suspension listed in ETKA for the 4Mo I might look into getting that set up, which should firm things up a bit, without dropping the suspension.
ou could just uprate the damper, something like the Koni FSD would work well with the standard springs.

I got a card from my little girl, she made it at nursery yesterday.

Myself and my wife dont bother, we agree its all a big marketing thing. We say I love you everyday (puke) and treat each other to gifts when we can, even if its something simple.

Re: oil change

I have allways swayed away from engine flush. It shouldn't be needed if regular oil changes are done. A certian ammount of carbon around some components is a good thing in an engine. Plus if carbon is loosened but doesnt find its way out this can block the oil pump pick up (also happens when changin...

Re: Mirrors Not Heating

You need to pop one off and check its connected and then see if you have a live power supply there, they quite often burn the heating elements out.

You dont have an air flow meter as such, the fuel metering head adjust the fueling as the incomming air lifts the flap. That is the item Matt described.

Re: STILL getting cooling issues

Does your heater get hot? Pretty good test that one. To bleed out check the heater matrix hoses, one has a small hole in it. Pull the pipe off a little until the hole is exposed, then run up until coolant comes out of the hole. Might be worth flow testing the rad, take off both hoses and run a hose ...

Good thing with the sealing cord (which works perfectly) is it can be removed. Silicone will not come off without a fight.

Re: STILL getting cooling issues

It should over heat if the water pump isnt working, easy way to check is take the small retun pipe off the reservior and rev the engine, you should get a steady flow of water out of the pipe.

Have you bled the cooling system fully? It could be an airlock.

The release rod can just give up after time, especially if you for example have had a couple of cambelts and a radiator (which a lot have) they just dont like being bent which you have to do to get them off. I keep a couple of spare new ones in my box for such occasions. The bonnet switch isnt conne...

Re: oil change

It is easy enough providing you can get underneath. If you undo the three screws on the coolant reservoir you can get to the oil filter to loosen it. Then when underneath get a piece of card (pollen filter box is ideal) and feed it up under the oil filter and wedge it under the oil cooler This gives...

Re: a6 2.7t?

There are some internal differences between the S4 and A6 Bitrurbo engines hence the higher torque outputs as allready mentioned. Awesome motors but like the S4 they need to be maintained well and sadly a lot arent.
