Re: Electric Handbrake Pad Replace... Simple
Take motor off, turn the torx drive in the caliper counter clockwise a few turn, push pison in, turn again and push untill fully retracted. Replace pads and motor. Activating brake will wind motor out till resistance meets. Any dash light should go out (usually after moving the car) I replaced a new...

Re: BMR missfire problem
Ideally the position of the inlet and exhaust cam adjustment bolts should be the same in their respective slots to give an even valve timing. Much has been said about Torsion value but as long as it is within range (cam to crank sensor angle) the best number is where your engine is happiest all rou...

Re: BMR missfire problem
vcds torsion values. mine was way out after a belt change, smoked, lumpy idle, sluggish off the mark. worth checking. intake should be zero '0' or within -/+ 1.5deg. Exhaust around 5deg but mine settled at 4.2

Re: BMR 170 running issues.HELP!
If torsion is out it will affect all the time. If in the past tipex has been used to set timing then big no no. Garage i had belt changed was old skool and fkd it up. Set it twice thereafter and still out. vw Techy mate with vcds sorted Torsion is a Red Herring. Mine ran perfectly at +3.72° also at...

Re: Do all 170 TDIs run a DPF?
Been happy with my BMR, Oil pump and loom rectified prior to purchase and that work was done by vw at 90k. Mine came with DPF (2006) Bought it with 120k on the clock 4.5yrs ago. Apart from wear parts (disc/pads/tyres/service parts) i've only replaced the fuel lift pump because it started humming and...

TRW on at the moment, been good till this past week when the pedal dropped. I thought the travel should stay the same even down to bare minimum. I'll get the system flushed when changed. Brake query 170tdi B6
I'm due to replace my discs and pads all round even though they still have meat on all the pads (3-4mm) I've recently noticed the peddle isn't biting as normal but much lower down when breaking, if you give it a quick pump it's normal again, release for a second then it drops down again. No loss of ...

Re: Tdi 170 DSG cold start problem
Yup, sounds like cam alignment. Intake cam on vcds measuring blocks should read zero but can be upto 1.5 +/- Exhaust cam can vary but the vw tech who did mine said 5 degrees, mine settled at 4.2 My symptoms were: Bad cold start Lumpy idle Smoke Foul exhaust smell Under powered especially setting off.
