Bluetooth in call volume problems

Hello! I've done a few stereo based upgrades on my R Line estate, and now have the following: RCD510DAB MDI in glove box (Passat CC drop down flap) 9w7 (I think) bluetooth module under the passenger seat The RCD 510 appears to be coded fine for both the MDI and the Bluetooth - the iPod works perfect...

Re: Is it viable to retrofit OEM DAB aerial

Hi Dan There apparently never was an OEM DAB aerial for the B6 saloon or wagon. I did quite a bit of research around this a couple of months ago, after getting fed up with my windscreen mounted aerial's rubbish performance. You can get the part from a CC, or a B7 Passat (or a scirocco, apparently). ...

Re: Trying to buy Art...

Hello! Some advice given to me by my dad, when I was on a search for a few suitable prints for a previous house (long since sold...) Have a think about the theme you want for your art, and try to find a local artist that paints in that style. Have a chat with them about how they sell their originals...

Re: What did you do to your Passat today?

That's really cool - I'm liking the sparks (and the wagon looks good too :D ) I was sat in a traffic jam on the M1 near Chesterfield today and plugged the cable into my Bluetooth module, just to see what happened. Amazingly, my phone connected to it almost straight away and I was able to dial out fr...

Re: Isofix Base?

I had an isofix base in my Touran, and it fitted to the lugs in the seat solidly. However, it pivoted up and down until you put the seat in and pushed the whole thing back to the back cushion of the seat. Then it was really solid. I had a non-isofix base in the other car, and it seemed more secure t...

Re: Heater output - Can you increase it?

My Citroen 2CV had a 2 part front grill, and as soon s the temperature dropped below about 5 degrees you were meant to slot the blanking plate in, removing it again when it warmed it. That was an air cooled flat 2 cylinder though, so I guess that's a little different! My Touran had an additional hea...

Fit Car Park Ticket Clip on B6

Simplest, cheapest upgrade to a B6 Passat. You'll never know how you managed without it! Credit to the part numbers to Jarek's build thread: http://www.ukpassats.co.uk/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=32560&hilit=ticket&start=459 Thought I'd put together the photos when I fitted mine - I also h...

When it costs £40 every time it blows off the dashboard, it's worth spending 96p!

(Not had the fine myself, but a few people round here have had to cough up :(( )

One of these: http://i1304.photobucket.com/albums/s538/BenKentzer/2013-11-24120710_zps2997f62f.jpg Total cost was under £1. Fit's into a pre-drilled hole on a B6 front pillar. Saves the sticky mess on the windscreen, and stops tickets blowing out of the window. Used to have one on my Octavia and di...

You might be better with plastidip...
Most of the Matt finish cars round here are. It can just be peeled off when you want to go back to the original colour.

Have a look on you tube for inspiration:)

Re: What did you do to your Passat today?

Put the MDI box and wiring in, and it worked without having to be coded. Result B-) Put the BT wiring in, and even though I bought the longest cable that car systems does, it doesn't look like it's going to be long enough to reach under the seat. Not such a good result  Put a windscreen car par...

Re: DAB Reception

I don't think that DAB will be all that good until they turn analogue off completely. We couldn't get digital TV (free view) until the analogue transmitters were switched off. Digital TV signal was only running at about 25 - 50% until then, I suspect DAB is the same. I've been wondering about this ...

Yes, the ECU will remember the code normally.

Removing Glovebox

Evening All! Just managed to swap the drop down box for the manual for an MDI / CD Changer cage. As the glovebox itself was a pain to remove (unless you know the magic trick), I though it might be useful to document the process for when I forget how to do it in the future... First, with the glovebox...

Re: Rear towing point

If it's anything like on the Touran, the tow bar replaces the entire rear inner bumper (the real rear bumper behind the colour coded flimsy plastic bumper). On my first Touran, the original inner bumper had a threaded hole for the towing eye (can't remember if it did on the second one). Even the fac...

DAB Reception

Hi I've got an RCD510 on my B6 with an aftermarket windscreen mount DAB aerial which to be honest is about as good as a chocolate fireguard. How good are the built in DAB aerials on the B7's? It looks like I can upgrade mine to use the B7 / CC module and I just wondered whether it was worth it. Chee...

Re: Engine cut out today???

My 1.9 Touran did something like this. RAC couldn't find it in their scanning tool, but SEAT main dealer found it was a relay failing. I seem to remember it was something like relay at position 17. On the touran it was behind the panel by the drivers knees. £5 part, 2 hours labour. Unfortunately it...
