Hi this is the very same symptoms I had once mine had gone bad, remove the plastic engine cover & from the left hand side near the turbo look behind the engine block you will be able to see it from here.

we have now put the engine cover back on now sounds good as new lol
if the camshaft is on its way how much is it likely to cost for replacement parts ? im also guessing once it goes there will be a hell of alot of noise to indecate to stop using of the car ? the car currently has 106k

It sure was im guessing that was yours out the front lowered / tints looked nice but needed a clean lol x

new marske , ( north east ) i will ask him to scan it monday evening , would it pick up a faulty injector loom or camshaft? ive looked at some videos on yt pd engine that have camshaft noise and it sounds nothing like them , if we hadent removed the engine cover it would still not have been heard to...

No havent had it scanned think it might be best to get it done, i know he has this big box scanner with loads of little chips attached for different makes & models , or does it have to be a vag one that i hear every one talking about? X
