Re: Clutch master cylinder inlet snapped
Just in case anybody else has the same problem, I have managed a DIY fix on this as sadly Rich's clutch master and the feed pipe was different. I searched about to see if I could get a glue that would withstand brake fluid without much luck but found a suggestion to plastic weld it back together. I'...

Re: Clutch master cylinder inlet snapped
Haha! I don't think she's gonna last much past her MOT in November, too much wrong, sadly. Never had a car that did such good mileage, it'll be a shame!
Cheers Rich, keep me posted!

It's that or it's getting parted out!

That's very helpful, thanks. I don't suppose you have a spare or know where I might be able to get one?

Clutch master cylinder inlet snapped
Hi Guys,
The fluid inlet on the top of my (3 month old) master cylinder has snapped off, is there any way of replacing this without replacing the whole master cylinder? I'm not spending another £150 on the old girl, she has too much wrong with her!
Cheers,
Mark.

Does this set the airbag light off or is there a way around it?

Re: B4 front window problem
Just checked vagcat and found the parts. If anybody else needs these they are as follows: lift channel right - 357837572 (lifts the window) seal for lift channel - 831837565 (seals the window in the channel) channel right - 357837066A (front rail) I'll call my local stealer on Monday and see if they...

Re: B4 front window problem
Looking at the last photos on this walkthrough - http://www.myturbodiesel.com/1000q/a3b4/window-power-repair-regulator.htm - it's the metal channel attached to the window, so I'm wondering if this comes on the window rather than the regulator. I also wonder if they do sell this but the VW guy didn't...

Re: B4 front window problem
I've been to my local VW today and they say you can't buy the runner on the mechanism separately, only the whole mechanism. They guy said that would be around £100 and advised me to look on the internet as he believes that bit is available elsewhere. His words - 'I don't know why VW can't get windo...

Re: B4 front window problem
Thanks for the replies!
It sounds different to the mk3 Golf, this has a scissor mechanism, no cables in sight!
If the front runner (do you mean the one bolted in?) has twisted should it bend back or is it just best to get a new one if they're only £12?

B4 front window problem
Hi Everybody, Yesterday whilst driving along with the drivers window open, I heard a clonk inside the door and when trying to wind up the window it fell forward as it was going up then stopped working completely. I took the doorcard off and had a look and it had fallen out of the mechanise and the f...

Re: bolt straight on
The breather pipe that runs down the front of the block on the B4 1.9TDi is the same as used on a mk3 Golf and VW Sharan. Also the clutch clutch master cylinder is the same as on the Corrado.

B4 central locking issues
Hi All, Twice this week I've noticed my central locking constantly locking and unlocking the car during the night. One night I came home late and thought there was a demented pigeon in a nearby tree and this morning also heard the car doing it. It's not the pump just running on, it's locking, unlock...

Re: MOT fail - headlamp beam pattern
To update this, I think I'm going to have to bite the bullet and buy a new headlight unit. Thanks for the replies, the unit wasn't even bolted in but no matter whether it is or not and where I move it it makes no difference. Because the light is 'out of focus' it's just blurred and that's obviously ...

Re: MOT fail - headlamp beam pattern
I was out swapping the bulbs when you guys replied. It stays with the headlamp and not the bulb so that rules that out. Maybe I have been unlucky and got two headlights with the same fault, seems odd though. The car has had a towbar to the middle of the front bumper at some point but it's only bent ...

Re: MOT fail - headlamp beam pattern
I'm 100% sure it's sat in square and straight. The H1 bulb has a flat side so it only goes in one way. I've even unscrewed the bulb holder from the lamp so I can see and make sure it's sat in there properly. The only thing I wonder is that to me the bulb looks slightly wonky from it's base, it tilts...

Re: MOT fail - headlamp beam pattern
Had a chance to look at this a bit more today. I parked up against the garage and can clearly see what he means, the drivers side headlamp casts a definite patter, sharp lines etc. but the passenger side casts a very blurry patten, almost as if the light is out of focus. I've tried adjusting using t...

Re: MOT fail - headlamp beam pattern
I'll check the bulb, cheers, it was dark when I got home though unfortunately. No idea about a switch, I don't think so looking at the spare in the garage. Never heard of that before though, that's a new one one me! I tried to ask the tester for more info, he wasn't very helpful though, just said th...

MOT fail - headlamp beam pattern
Hi Guys, My car has just failed it's MOT, it needs a tiny bit of welding but there was an issue with the headlamp: 'Nearside Headlamp aim beam image obviously incorrect' Now this was an advisory on the car last year, before I owned it, so a couple of months ago I bought a couple of headlamp units fr...

Oil leak
Hi Guys, I've got a small oil leak on the engine, it looks to be coming from the plastic pipe that goes to the lower front of the block, I assume some kind of PCV pipe? It looks like it has split on the bottom turn. Is this common? Is the pipe moulded with the flange on the bottom? I'm guessing I ne...

B4 TDi starting problem
Hi Guys, Had some trouble starting the car yesterday morning, she started fine and then cut out after 5-10 seconds. After that I tried cranking loads but it just wouldn't fire up. I searched the forum and went out and checked the clear fuel line to the pump and it was mostly air with only a tiny bit...
