Re: Oil overfull, engine damage?
They've gone up a bit, Mitch (like everything else): https://www.dpfsolutionsheffield.co.uk/product/audi-a4-a6-vw-passat-2-0tdi-oil-pump-balance-shaft/ £220+ Ouch. :-o There are cheaper exchange shafts out there that are still well engineered. Takes a bit of searching to find the right ones. When I...

Re: Intermittent light blue/grey exhaust smoke - 2009 Passat B6 Estate 20.L tdi Highline Plus
Sounds like the DPF is getting full and actively regenerating more frequently. Couple this with the increase in rpm and perhaps some hardened valve stem seals or worn valve guides and blue smoke would be common at the regeneration stage on older cars. My commute shortened from 35 miles each way to 1...

Re: Oil overfull, engine damage?
Thank you for your reply to my questions, that's very helpful, I'll need to contemplate my next move. The replacement re-engineered balance shaft you will likely need is around £129 exchange but not all shafts are done properly, some with loose visible inserts screwed in should be avoided and tend ...

Re: Oil overfull, engine damage?
I've got the car home and removed the oil pump - the drive shaft is badly worn at the drive end, the pump is turning freely. So a few more questions please: 1) Would the oil pump drive fault explain the oil level increase seen previously? 2) Is there another fault lurking that would cause the drive...

Re: ECU pin outs for Siemens PPD1.5 please
Does anybody have a full pin-out list for the Siemens PPD1.5 ECU please ? I already know +12v and ground, but I need to find out which pins carry the 5v reference voltage. I know it's on T60 pin 42, but I suspect it is also on at least one other pin on either the T60 or T90. This is for a 2007 140H...

I am in contact with a good mechanic, he has never replaced one before. Have looked at Youtube for some advice. Is it a straightforward job? Straig...

Is it whilst moving or stationary?Busman3856 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 06, 2023 9:45 am Only makes the squeak sound on light pedal pressure down and up. Can't hear it over 30mph
Stationary then likely to be a pulley bearing, but if moving low speed squeak from dirty or stiff brake calipers is a common thing which disappears at faster speeds.

Everytime I put my throttle pedal down and up I can hear a squeak sound from the front, sounds like suspension springs but they have been checked. Anyone give me a clue to what the squeak is ol8 Not much to go on - perhaps someone can push the accelerator whilst you listen for engine noises. Withou...

Re: alternator belt
Most engines have the belt going around the crank past the tensioner over the alternator and around the ac compressor IF you have AC, if not you have the shorter belt but you will still need to release the tensioner with a 17mm short open spanner. The tensioner is often tight and it takes some caref...

Re: Front suspension springs broken
My Sachs on the rear, also from Autodoc are now over 7 years old, still perfect. The front springs, which I am sure are Sachs from factory, as were the original struts also (Sachs are an OE supplier for VW), the struts having now been replaced, are 16 years old, have no paint chips, so no corrosion ...

I'd replace it with a good used one if the mechanism does throw out and lock the belt.
Not had much experience with fixing them, no doubt the ones with the explosive cartridges inside must be treated with the utmost care.

Also check rear springs especially at the bottom where breakages can leave part of a coil in the recessed part of the main wishbone / control arm which clanks over rough terrain and speed bumps - ask me how I know ;) Screenshot_20230707_082200_edit_518637193754195.jpg Thanks DMITCH16, You were righ...

I had the shorter non AC belt fitted whilst mine was out of action. At least VW engineered a practical solution to running the car with a broken AC compressor by allowing it to be bypassed!

Wouldn't worry too much about the compressor as I replaced mine with a similar aged used one for under £40. I know some will say you don't know what you're getting but most will be returnable. There are a lot out there. The old one got submerged going through a flooded road a few years back and the ...

If I recall correctly it is at the back of the engine bay near a driveshaft, viewable from below.2008tdihighline wrote: ↑Tue Jun 13, 2023 3:07 pm Does anyone know the location of Coolant pump 2 on a 2.0tdi engine CBAB?
I think mine needs replacing or at least the wiring checking.

Some of the original motor units suffered from water ingress. Could be that the motor shaft rusted from inside weakening it.
