Re: Front Wiper not working

Sometimes when the motors give up, they blow a fuse or the wiper relay packs up. Have you checked these? I always remove, clean the blades and reseat fuses and / or relays when something electrical is replaced with used parts. It has often been a bad blade contact or bad earth preventing things from...

Re: Won't rev past 300 rpm when stationary. Hesitant when moving

On standstill, they don't rev past 3000rpm. It's not a fault but a feature. Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk My 2007 PD with DPF and still predominantly stock except for the turbo, revs freely up to as much as it'll go, or rather as much as I'll take it up to, at standstill. Rev limiter not a f...

Re: 12 volt outlets

I was curious about this and have just checked my handbook (printed March 2005). Section 3.1, Controls and Equipment, Pages 95 & 96. Capture.JPG So it does say that the sockets are live all the time. VW must have changed the design at some point? Definitely interesting - mine are both off when igni...

Re: 12 volt outlets

All 3 of my saloon's 12V sockets (ashtray, centre console, boot) are always live. The stock setup is 12v sockets live on ignition on. If you have permanently live sockets with ignition off then it may be that someone has fettled with the standard setup in the past. Charging stuff while the engine i...

Re: Turbo issues/cylinder oil leak

Absolutely, feel pretty pleased that it's no longer a big black brick on stilts on the driveway! Engine emissions light came up today - think I've figured out that I've managed to fit a set of 4.4v glow plugs instead of the 7v required, which is annoying.. Anyone looking for a set of 4.4v glow plug...

Re: bolt torque

Busy doing my clutch, and seems that most bolts need to be torqued to a certain figure + 90 or whatever degrees, does this apply to re used bolts or just new ones? are they stretch bolts? seems a f****** stupid idea, why not just give a higher torque figure? Any bolt with an angle stage at the end ...

Re: Crack in Rocker Cover

Sounds like normal crankcase blow by gases trying to escape from the nearest point - the crack in the cover. Normally the pressurised oily gases go through the cover filtration system inside and this removes a lot of the oil content, but not all, before the gases are shoved back into the turbo and i...

Re: 2010 CC Intermittent Steering Wobble @65+mph - suspect rack?

As I found with my rack several months ago, the inner tie rods often do not echo any wear when the car is off the ground and are checked by hand. The suspension did emit noises slightly despite everything appearing tight but after replacing the rack for a genuine remanufactured unit, due to severe w...

Well it might be but advert doesn't specify badge diameter plus bigger issue is it's out of stock so irrelevant.I originally found a b6 front badge in matt black on amazon but it's 'currently not available' so I think it's literally impossible to buy this badge.... Re: Gear changes feel extremely stiff after driving car for few minutes

Seems to be a common topic this week, lots of peeps with clutch / gear selection issues. Brake fluid level checked? On the 5 speed box you have, there is a hydraulic slave cylinder outside of the box actuating a pivoting metal lever inside that holds the release bearing quite loosely and this has kn...

Re: Correct Springs

Easy thing to do would be to ring another dealer and ask them what the correct spring should be for your Reg / VIN and the part number as not all of the dealer parts monkeys are obstructive. Then search away with your best search engine resource. Lowering can be a good thing but each to their own an...

Check brake fluid level
Good shout as air in the system will make the clutch ineffective...if level good then possibly a mechanical failure of CSC / bearing unit as already suggested.

Possibly the CSC has failed or the release bearing.

Re: Help, clutch gone?

Depends what year and model but most are either fully hydraulic down to the CSC or part hydraulic (slave cylinder operating a mechanical lever and release bearing inside the bell housing). Cable operated gear selectors sometimes need resetting but it's odd the clutch suddenly went?

Could be the water drains are blocked and water has built up and got into the dash? Or the high pressure lance if used has introduced water somewhere?

Pretty sure a couple of others on here have had the same blank dash.

Yes where 16 is roughly but you may have to trace back a bit as it is not visible from underneath and on the blind side of the pipe.
