Re: Price of remaps gone up?
Possibly more difficult to do with the amount of extra plumbing on modern engines. There is a link here to the EA288 SSP gives you an idea of what the layout of the engine is. Everything is done in modules. https://pics.tdiclub.com/data/517/820433_EA288.pdf TBH I would be thinking about maybe a stag...

Re: Price of remaps gone up?
Unfortunately everything is going up in price, Businesses are seeing the same price rises in energy as we are. As you say £500 for a DSG service is silly money though. A dealer will be a lot cheaper to do that work. I just bought a kit to change the oil on the DSG on my MK1 TT track car using Fuchs ...

Re: Karls 382 BHP Audi A4 TDI build thread
Hi Aaron,I have still got it. Running just fine some small jobs to do on it, both rear door locks look like they have packed up. Just like Passats :). Bit of rust on the front wing that seems quite common on these. Spend most of my time on cars tatting with my TT . Nothing like it was when I bought ...

Re: DSG Fluid
There is a large internal filter that does most of the filtering in the system . I believe the external filter gets rid of the very tiny particles that mostly seem to come from the clutches . The oil that flows through the external filter goes to some internal spray bars that spray oil on the gearse...

Re: DSG Fluid
VAG don't make oil or fluids. You do not have to use VAG oils or fluids to maintain the warranty on your car as long as they meet the relavent specification. I have bought Febi DSG fluid to use in my gearbox. It's made in Germany the same as the OE fluid . There's no harm in changing the filter as w...

I know you said you have had the alternator clutch done, have you looked at the belts when the engine is idling to see if they are bouncing. TBH sounds like the DMF may be on the way out from the symptoms you describe. If you have access to VAG COM you could check for fault codes and check the injec...

Engine serial number is on the gearbox mounting flange behind the fuel filter. Its first three letters are the engine code.

Re: BV43 turbo upgrade
Those logs don't look too bad to me TBH. I am not sure what you are expecting from the car. They are heavy cars compared to something like a Golf. You won't get a BV43 to spool the same as a standard VNT17 turbo low down. The boost pressure and fuelling look OK to me. If the engine is not in good or...

Re: BV43 turbo upgrade
The stop screw sets the minimum closed setting of the vanes when there is maximum vacuum on the N75, so I found it needed just the very slightest tweak to reduce that setting, indeed thinking about it it's probably best not to touch it at all as this is where you may have the issue with excessive EM...

Re: BV43 turbo upgrade
Have you looked at the top of this thread where I shortened the actuator arm to help the spool. What you have is not so bad TBH. Think mine made 1 bar of boost around 1800 RPM. The larger compressor and turbine will always mean you don't get the same kind of instant spool like you do with the standa...

Was the car standing outside? . Sounds like some kind of water / moisture penetration or some field mice chewing wires. Check where the ECU is located to make sure it's not wet in there.

Re: Anyone have experience with VAG Tacho?
As above these are old systems now and work OK on Windows XP, Windows 7 etc but on newer systems you get issues with drivers not being signed correctly or out of date. Had this issue recently with loading drivers on windows 10 for my Ignitron ECU. https://www.howtogeek.com/167723/how-to-disable-driv...

Resistor mod causes the engine to overfuel all the time, even on idle. Causes the VNT to coke up eventually and doesn't give any real performance improvement. As above get it mapped.

Re: GTB2260VK
If you are thinking of going to a GTB2260VK no point in keeping the standard injectors as this will really limit the power you can get . A 6 speed box change is a good idea to get the 240mm clutch as the amount of torque you will end up producing will be better handled with the 6 speed box. Besides ...

Could well be an issue with the power supply. Could also be a duff electrolytic capacitor, I have fixed a few flat screen LCD tellys that have had power supply problems. When an electrolytic capacitor starts to fail they tend to swell up. You can tell by looking at the top of the capacitor usually i...

The connector is on the sensor , It's only a small piece of plastic. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-Passat-B5-1-8-saloon-02-Air-Temperature-Sensor/273206200009? Re: B5.5 Climatronic reads -45 degrees C??
Sensor is located just in front and at the bottom of the radiator. It's only a 2 pin thermistor. I think air con is disabled if the outside temp is less than about 5 degrees so your air con may not work.

Re: new diesel smoke limits in mot from 20th may
What we all need is a new car style rev limiter to be applied while stationery. If someone could write that into a remap they would be on to a winner I bet the new cars wouldn't pass the test if you could remove it Easily done on the B5.5 EDC15 diesels it's called launch control. You can configure ...

Re: AWX 1.9PD miss fire from 1800rpm
If you ever get to look at a PD injector close up look at the body of the injector which sits in the fuel rail. There are hundreds of tiny holes in the body where the fuel goes into the injector. These holes are smaller than the injector exit holes so act as a filter making sure nothing can get into...

Re: AWX 1.9PD miss fire from 1800rpm
As above the tandem pump produces vacuum for the brake system and also boosts the fuel pressure to around 130-150 PSI to be fed to the injector rail. There is a test point on the tandem pump that you can connect a pressure meter to check that all is well. https://workshop-manuals.com/volkswagen/golf...
