Re: knocking from rear when breaking??

Def say the pads. Ive found the metal spring holding the caliper on to the carrier get weak over time. This causes the caliper to be looser than it should be and cause pads to be loose (even rattle in my case). i got 2 front for a tenner from GSF

Still even if it doubles for a 17 year old who's just passed their test, that is still cheap!!!

Re: Replacement B5.5 speakers

Yeah dont think the one with the broken cone will be much use. Prob go for some cheap new ones. Appreciate the offer though.

£30 isnt bad at all for a pair.

Gaz - What size are the factory ones 8 inch, or 6.5 inch as that picture suggests?

Re: Replacement B5.5 speakers

Well it depends, i want better speakers - well when i say better, i mean some that work. As at least 2 have stopped working. So ideally i want a replacement which will work as per the factory ones. I dont really want to go dwon the route of installing an amp etc if i can help it.

Hi all,

Can anyone tell me what size the factory door speakers are in the B5.5 and also the size of the tweeters? (are tweeters generally all one size?)

Re: HID scale

Presumeably the kit has amp style connectors for the bulb, just buying a suitable replacement 5K bulb with the same connectors is all you need. Try to get the metal based bulbs theyre often a better fit. I had to literally bend the metal base a little to the bulb would sit fully into the light unit...

Re: HID scale

Can somebody tell me how to fit aftermarket hid kit to my 2002 passat is there any modifications involved? Its as simple as putting the HID bulbs into the light unit. Then the connection that would normally go into the bulb, plug into a transformer which powers the ballast, this then plugs into the...

Re: Users Tips for removing water of carpets & foams

Have you managed to lift any of it up at all?

In the wifes B5.5 i had to literally cut the affected carpet out and leave it to dry in the garage - it took days. But then there was an inch of water under it and it was sodden. If its not being liften up, you really need to get it lifted up.

I think it was indeed the original, if so it had done 13-14 years.
Woah, that must be a record breaker.

Re: No wires to bottom of door puddle / courtesey lights ?

Personally the easiest thing to do would be to run some wire from the puddle lights to the interior lights. Wouldnt affect anything. Done something similar in my 2010 Crafter (which has canbus). When the door is opened the lights will come on when the interior light comes on.
