I had the same problem and someone on here posted a couple of pics. If you search the b5 & b5.5 area for "glove box light" you might find it.

Try DR Web Cureit. Worked for me a few times. Takes ages to do a full scan though but is very thourough.

I was always led to believe that if the accident was not your fault you can make the person responsible's insurer repair the car regardless of the cost. You shouldn't be any worse off than before the acciddent. You should look into it as it may stop the car becoming a cat c.
