Hi all not been on here in a while been busy with work ,,,,, but sad to say the passat has died and with all the trouble I had with it even though I had great times with it it will no longer be gracing the roads again . Heads cracked and the oil is now creamy sludge with massive amount of noise comi...

Yup it was loosing most of the compression through the head gasket thus lacking power ... After carefull consideration and a few hours of head scratching I came to the conclusion that was how it was meant to be as the front was timed up ok and the pulleys couldn't come off with removing the cams and...

Nope once It was all back together it started first turn of the key and ran like a dream .

If you look under the drivers side front of the car at the boost hose there is a black plastic spaceship looking thing attached to it with another 1" hose connected the side going back to the air intake hose and another 5mm hose going up and across to the inlet manifold hope this helps

After a few hours of getting my hands dirty over the las couple of days it's now all back together and running like a dream and goes even better than I could have imagined thanks to all that gave their advice .... :D Not sure about labour costs anymore as I'm not at a workshop anymore and all work w...

Just finished putting my head back on tonight and I would recommend you have a long t10 multispline and a t45/t50 ribe tool as I removed the ribe type but refitted multispline had a small eppyfit trying to find one at ten to six this evening but all done now and omg it's so much better

Ok had it confirmed today ....yup head gasket gone so I set about getting the head off didn't take much, but I noticed that the two keyways on the chain pulleys don't line up to the arrows on cam blocks any suggestions why ?

I've just spoken to an old workshop supervisor that I used to work in and he said I can go down and use his comppression tester and sniffer test this week so hopefully will find out where its ccoming from thanks for the advice all

Yup bottle appears to under pressure and looses about a header tank in roughly a week , I have rusty coloured water in the tank but I've seen worse lol

Yup someone has suggested oil cooler but they're the same cost as a head gasket , don't wanna fork out on one and it ends being the other lol . Gonna have to go in a garage I suppose

Yep b5 20vt slight sludge on stick and cap nothing that I would expect for the amount of coolant lost . Carpets dry and also rad dry

HELP please coolant loss
Help please I have a coolant loss and no start first thing and when left for a while after a run . I have no puddles under the car anywhere and no puddles inside either . No fault codes either , Does anyone have any ideas before I get even more hacked off with it and sell it . Many thanks

Odd question but does the 1.8 t aeb engine have a crank sensor if so where is it , as this shed doesn't wanna start first time , once started its fine starting but once left for more than half an hour it struggles to start , just wondered if it may be the crank sensor

Wasn't the shade of pink I was after but still looks good ...... I painted the wheel black first masking off the outer rim , I then dried them off with a heat gun , waited a day for the paint to go off then masked off the black spokes and the tyre then primed and painted the pink then dried that wit...
