Re: Things to change whilst doing cambelt?

Just about to order all the bits, just wanted to check as it isn't me fitting it that the engine does definitely fit? As its the upgraded one isn't it? No modification needed? Just wanna let mechanic friend know in advance incase there's any issues?

Re: Leaking windscreen :(

Just ring insurance and ask, what I did. Mine was particularly pitted to the point where I claimed it was dangerous in sunlight (glare was a bit ridiculous). Lady said no ones ever asked that but when I said it'll save me putting a brick through it and after checking with her manager they said no pr...

Re: Things to change whilst doing cambelt?

Ahh brilliant forgot those couple of bits.

Anyone got any opinion on the ContiTech stuff? Thinking of getting all belts through them

Also with water pumps, just make sure I get one with a metal impeller?

Am currently looking at euro with 25% code

Things to change whilst doing cambelt?

Hi all, Was going to do this myself but have literally today just secured myself a new job which will mean I need to move so time is short. It's not really quite to it service interval yet but just want it done so I know it's one less thing to worry about. It's a 2000 afn with almost 150,000 miles. ...

Re: PD130 turbo straight swap into AFN?

Not particular budget limited decision, more down to time, and the potential problems, boost hoses letting go/popping off etc. just wouldn't mind a mild step in power, will see how I get on with decat and straight through backbox first. But will be keeping my eye out for a decent pd130 turbo! Thanks...

Re: PD130 turbo straight swap into AFN?

Hmmm will have to have a think.

Would either of these be more suited to standar intercooler, as fitting a fmic is not something I was planning on doing?

Re: PD130 turbo straight swap into AFN?

Cool, thanks for the help! Although I'm sure I've seen people saying that bv43 will have more lag, and having seen anyone comment on the pd130 lag? I'm not after making anything mad, but having finally sorted my low power (maf) problem it drives so much better but wouldn't say no to ickle more power...

Thanks! Sorry just to check this would be the correct model to look for?

Also I guess I would need a pd130 intake pipe as it has the two bolt flange Aswell?

Anyone with an AFN who's done this able to comment on what it's like? With/without remap?

PD130 turbo straight swap into AFN?

Hi all, Have had a search but can't find a definitive answer. Looking at other upgrades, and seem to remember the pd130 being mentioned for turbo swap? Don't suppose anyone's got part numbers? And the engine codes they came on ? Am I right in thinking its avf, AWX and blb engines? Will it just be a ...

Looks alot better, Boost is keeping closer to requested boost and not dropping off, and the MAF readings are up just over 1000. Drives so much better! Re: Another AFN with power loss! Please Help...

Swapping valves over made the car terrible, insanely underpowered and wouldnt rev properly. My valves have got slightly different part numbers so assume they're not identical valves. Scanned it after this and got a MAP sensor code, erased it and swapped valves back around, now the same as it was bef...

Re: N75 v's N18

Been trying to diagnose my low power issue and decided today to swap them around. Same parts number with the A suffix being the only difference. Ridiculously different, N18 used as N75 produce a ridiculously underpowered car, barely got up a hill near me. It then threw up a MAP sensor code after but...

Right, have now done the vac system simplification (n18 delete) and its still the same, which I suppose is good as I didn't screw up vac system! Also replaced vac line with different pipe as the eBay stuff I got was c squishy.

Am gna go swap the valve over now.

Re: Another AFN with power loss! Please Help...

Generic MAF code 00553 popped up when i unplugged it, and yup run worse with it unplugged. I cant hear any boost leaks, will probably start taking off boost hoses and inspecting them, as its kind of hard to spot any whilst running in car. Unless theres a proper way of checking them?!?! As EGR is bla...

Re: Another AFN with power loss! Please Help...

Right, unplugged maf definitely made a difference so the maf hasnt completely failed, it just went alot flatter and powerless. Although it did throw up a code so i now know that its at least reporting fault codes correctly. Also went to a nice flat road with a big hill at the end. Booted it along fl...

No joy with the filter. Glad its done as its another thing to rule out, and i've got no idea why i avoided it when servicing. Did another bit of logging and created a graph aswell, of a run up to around 4000RPM. http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/ll33/djselliott/motorway_zpsfc0b32ef.jpg The actual v...
