Hi there I was new back in 2013, had a B5.5 Passat estate TDI130. Since then had a Golf GT TDI and an Audi A4 estate. Currently driving a 2006 BMW 525d M-sport. Looking at a part exchange with a local dealer for a 2008-2009 Passat 2.0 TDI, possibly in highline trim. Popped back on here to have a loo...

Central locking

Need help! Just replaced electric window unit, battery went flat. Charged that. Now if i press lock on keyfob the alarm unit 'chirps' and nothing happens at all, no indicator flash. Clicking unlock only the lights flash and nothing more, no chirp. I can lock the door from the keyhole on the door. Fr...

Re: Electric wndows noisy, passenger side not operating

I went with the whole unit from a breakers and just fitted it all now, along with a new door handle as it was looking rough. Now its all back together, the window works perfectly, but i cant seem to lock the car with central locking. Its -5 here today and very snowy so im not sure if thats why, but ...

Found the cause of the drivers side window fault. Cable fray.

Re: Electric wndows noisy, passenger side not operating

Thanks guys. Read quite a bit about clips this last couple of days, but most say that of they fail the window drops. Im going to remove the door card and see what i can see today.

Electric wndows noisy, passenger side not operating

Hi folks. Got a strange situation where suddenly my electric front windows no longer operate properly. Drivers side is working but noisily, passenger side is just making a bad noise and doesn't lower. It did drop about an inch but wouldn't go back although i was able to lift it back into position. A...

Re: Sensors on AWX TDI 130

Thanks Karl. Yeah my chief suspect is the temp sensor. I would just rather sort the broken plug too. Misfire usually occurs after around 5-10 mins of driving on my way to work. Isnt boost related either, it will happen on light or full throttle, but seems to be more in cold damp air. Ill also check ...

Sensors on AWX TDI 130

Hi folks Had rough running on my car for a fair old while now, only ever at the first graduation of the temp sensor. Seems like a minor misfire, like a hesitation almost, so it has to be fuel/injector related. It feels like a duff spark plug but since its diesel it can really only be the fuel. Unles...

Re: URGENT - alarm on B5.5

I was sort of right ..... Sit in car with fob in hand , shut door and lock via the fob so the alarm sets and wait about a minute . Wave your arms like you just don't care and see what happens , I think the alarm should go off if you just use the internal handle to try and open the door .... Alterna...

Re: URGENT - alarm on B5.5

Right. I might have fixed it (although it could just be in a good mood) Iv had fuse 14 pulled for 2 weeks, with the car in the garage and getting a lift to work (car share was my turn not to drive). Gave it a test the other night and could not stop the alarm. Was going off for 10 seconds then stoppi...

Re: Headlight out but not reported on display

Yeah, appreciate the banter its ok :D I have had major alarm woes with the car which i think i have finally fixed (*touches wood and lucky rabbits foot*) and i was wondering if this was in some way connected. Car gets regular checks hence i noticed the bulb out in the first place ;) EDIT - in fact t...

Headlight out but not reported on display

Hi folks. Iv got a passenger side headlight out, but it does not report that it is out on the dashboard. I would have thought it would do so.

I had passenger side reversing lamp bulb blown and that came up.

Could this indicate a fault somewhere?

Re: URGENT - alarm on B5.5

The car battery was suspected as one of about 10 possible causes (all over £50!). The only reason i would suspect the main 12v is that often when it has reared up again its been cold and batteries dislike cold (and one time id left my satnav charging for 6 hours). Another thing im not sure i mentio...

URGENT - alarm on B5.5

Im wondering if you are right. When i checked for water it had been dry 3-4 days so may not have been obvious. Are the internal batteries known for failing on the alarm unit? I just cant understand how the alarm went off whenid locked the car from the internal button (so supposedly not having the al...

Re: URGENT - alarm on B5.5

Feel like im talking to myself here a bit. Pulled fuse 14 which stops the alarm going off at all so i can trust it overnight. Just put it back in. Noticed the dome light does not come on when i open any door (bulb works, if i set it to 'on') but the rear light pods with the sensors both work when an...

Re: URGENT - alarm on B5.5

Ok. It is getting worse now. The alarm goes off on its own, without being set, every 30 minutes. It alarms for 60 seconds, 30 seconds off, 60 seconds on. It does this even with the car running/driving. The remote wont stop it. There is a strange noise i can only call a chirp, and another alarm type ...

Re: URGENT - alarm on B5.5

It started doing it again. Been fine for a couple of weeks. My Expensive girlfriend threw her expensive Prada handbag into the passenger footwell and now its doing it again :hyst I had another look at the connectors in the kick panel. The grey one has no sign of corrosion BUT, the socket into which ...

Re: URGENT - alarm on B5.5

Well at least you have sorted the problem even if it may only be temporary you have an idea where to go now. Very common for people to have intermittent issues caused by corrosion on those connectors. They do come apart but sometimes you may not like what you find. Karl. How do they come apart? I w...

Re: URGENT - alarm on B5.5

I appear to have fixed it. I had a look under the bonnet and removed the battery/master cylinder cover. I couldnt see the alarm unit (i was looking for a sounder, but that may not be what it looks like) I could only see the brake master cylinder, pollen filter, battery and lots of hoses. Loads of le...

Re: URGENT - alarm on B5.5

The horn sounder is definately working as it is loud and goes off immediately the moment the alarm is armed.
