Re: sputter bearing suppliers.

Hi, after reading about the pitfalls of the bxe engine and finding out that I'm the owner of one... You and the vast majority of 1.9 PD drivers have a BXE engine - so safe to say millions. Failure rate - insignificant. Postings on the Internet by those with failures - loads compared to those with n...

Re: mpg tips and tricks?

I used to have to drive to Derby weekly last year, about a 200 mile round trip, and my 1.9 gave me 68.7mpg. A lot of that was through the 50mph endless roadworks on the M1 though. In general though it sits on average between 53 & 55mpg.

B7 viewing today...

So not for any reason other than curiosity I looked at a B7 today. I had driven past it last weekend on a forecourt, great colour and a good price, so I found it on Autotrader afterwards. Summary is its a 2012 2.0tdi 140 manual wagon, one owner & what I imagine is a standard spec. Drove it, and ...

Re: Thinking of a few mods..... Might regret it lol

I did the multi-function steering wheel and heated seats... The multi-fuction steering wheel was easy - buy the wheel, the correct module, and the little airbag loom. Then just get it coded, job done. I did it in phases, so the steering wheel feels really weird - and you get the yellow steering ligh...

Re: Preventative to the exploding 1.9 BXE and BKC

I appreciate you've had a good run with yours Paddy but unlike the 77mm identification with the 2.0 we don't know which 1.9's will put a leg out of bed . Indeed, which, or when, if at all. All I'm saying is I'll continue to take my chances. If I'd paid the bones of £20k when it was new I would und...

Re: Preventative to the exploding 1.9 BXE and BKC

Tell us how much swapping the shells out would cost, then all us poor BXEr's can decide if we want to bother, or not. But at almost 150k miles you seriously think I'd shell out (no pun intended) a good chunk of cash to get this done? Putting my head in the sand, or just living in reality?! Edit - ap...

Re: Preventative to the exploding 1.9 BXE and BKC

Given the info are you going to change the conrod bearing shells ? It's almost as if you post stuff like this just to provoke a reaction.... so here's my thoughts. The question is, how much preventative maintenance do you do on a car that is... - 2 models out of date - not particularly expensive - ...

A lot of B6's don't have the centre screw, so the passenger side dash trip is just a clip-in piece.

What models/years/engine codes does this refer to - I'm uninitiated in all things 2.0TDI  but I've been thinking of a Passat CC for my next car - and it would need to be a TDI, hence the question.
Cheers

I'm not sure how easy the Hella bulbs are to seat/locate, but those beam patterns don't look crisp enough - I'd start by making sure the HID bulbs are seated properly.

They can, and you will need a corresponding steering control module to go with it for it to function properly. I swapped mine over, and had it coded afterwards by a guy on here. All very straightforward.

Basic spec on that one, no Sat Nav, no multi function steering wheel, half leather... all very 'standard'. I don't think the price looks bad compared to others on Autotrader. The big road tax is a bitter pill to swallow. Still cheaper than most of europe - small consolation! I'm personally a fan of ...

Re: Kenwood DNX520VBT Not Working - B6

I recently put a DNX520VBT in mine, and it's a great bit of kit. Yours sounds like it has a bad wire somewhere that's either rubbing or is part-broken. The loom you've pictured above is basically what you get when you open the Kenwood box, and it comes with the steering control module already attach...

Boost hose connector leaking - seals / o-rings?

Need a bit of help, probably from some one with access to the VW parts system. I have some small evidence of boost leak from the connectors where the boost pipes connect to the intercooler. Does anyone know if there is any 0-rings or seals in there that I can replace? 2008 model 1.9tdi pd bxe. Thank...

Installing Kenwood DNX520VBT

I need a little bit of help, hopefully someone on here has experience of the Kenwood DNX520VBT, the unit specially designed for VAG cars.
