B5.5 2.0 ALT engine question

Can anyone tell me what this little hole is for? It is just below/to the side of the inlet manifold, the threads inside are shiny as if something was in there but I cannot think or see what. It feels like there is no pressure in or out when I plug it with my finger at idle. The oil is from the brea...

Re: Exhaust fumes inside car?

I just been fiddling again, I have managed to heat up and insert/slot in a piece of 22mm high temp overflow pipe, so far so good, i'll check it i a day or so, (mot on Monday so fingers crossed there) as for the little hole I got no idea, as far as I can tell there is no pressure, in or out unless it...

Timing belt, time to renew?

Hi,

My 5.5 has 145k on it and had the belt renewed at 115k,I know it is only 30k miles ago but it was done back in 2007 should I add it to my list of other stuff to get done this season or should it be good for another 10-20k?

From what i can see it isn't showing any real signs of wear.

Discoloured tail ligt lens

My O/S real lens has a slight yellow tinge. It is inside where the bulb goes and not the outer shell. It isn't terrible but because the other side is lovely and shiny it stands out, especially on the reverse light (to me at least). I don't have a problem taking the lens out, but wondered about ideas...

Re: B5 Passat Aerial lead?

Do you have any way to check the continuity of the Coax?
Some kind of multimeter or even create some sort of low voltage circuit? At least you could be sure it is the coax and not some other bad earth Conn or some unsuppressed interference before you rip the whole interior out...

Thanks matey, I'll crack on with that and cheers for the leather tip too, sadly mine is a petrol, ALT engine.

Shifted a lovely V plate B5 TDi last year the car (body and interior) was in a mess but the engine was sweet as, if I could have dropped that into this one now it'd have been great... :D
