2.0 TDi losing coolant
Hi My wifes 2003 Touran 2.0 TDi is losing coolant. I'd estimate it goes from full to tripping the warning (bottom of bottle) after about a 1000 miles. So that's not a great deal, but still a concern. I have looked inside the oil filler cap and there is no mayo at all. The coolant itself also looks f...

Re: paint 12year warranty
vwnutant - apologies if I am coming in to this a bit late and have missed something, but do you know 100% that your car had none of those defects before it went to VW? I ask that as I have bought 2 ex lease cars from auction before. Both were 3 years old with main dealer history (Ford and VW) and bo...

Re: paint 12year warranty
Is it the silver one in your signature? I would have said maybe it was that the rest of your car needed a polish, but you would hope the blending in would see to that and I reckon your car is probably well looked after. Doesn't sound good at all.

Re: Awfull MPG from 140BHP Estate manual
Oh mpg in the 30's on the motorway does sound bad. Id expect it to be mid 40's on the motorway. When I used to do a commute on the M6 to Brum and back my 55 plate Focus diesel would show 50+mpg. One day I tried changing up early and stuck to 65 on the motorway and the trip computer showed 69.9mpg fo...

Re: Updated Pricing
Yeah thats fine Simon. Probably should have worded it better. What I meant to say was my workmate was disappointed that your website didn't have his car on and what the bhp increase would be. Its the 177bhp version yes. I know you come with plenty of recommendation so I have no hesitations myself. :...

Re: Updated Pricing
Was showing my mates your website, but my mate was a little disappointed that you dont list a remap for his 57 plate 320d. It only lists the older lower power model. I told him I doubt it was a problem. Also why are the testimonials all from 2002/2003? Not saying its dodgy or anything mate - just th...

Re: Awfull MPG from 140BHP Estate manual
The modern diesels dont tend to do anything like the book figure MPG. For example my wife used to have a 07 Zafira CDTi and that would only do about 42mpg. I only once got it to do 50mpg and that was by resetting the trip computer after I had got on the motorway and then doing 60 all the way. Modern...

Re: Updated Pricing
Thanks Mine is a 2003 and for some reason the 2003 Touran seems slightly different to the 2004 onwards models. For example my stereo if half integrated behind the dashboard where say a 54 plate would be the same thing, but more like we are used to seeing in the current VAG cars. My mate has the E46 ...

Re: Updated Pricing
Hi I'm interested in getting my Touran done as per my signature. I think its a PD and not the later type 2.0 engine though? Dunno. Could you do my mates 55 plate E46 330D at the same time? He is fairly happy with the power, but he only gets 35mpg which isn't great. Would you maybe say go for the EGR...

Phew
We dont have a Seat or Skoda dealer local so I may have to buy it direct from VW then. Or I guess I could have it serviced 2 months early. Mind you its only done 6k since the last service.

What oil in a 2003 2.0 TDi
My Touran is low on the dip stick. I've googled what oil it should have and checked the manual, but all it mentions is the VW numbers - 506.1 & 505.1 depending on if you long life it or not (we dont as it does 8k a year). I think this might be a PD engine and different to the later 2.0 TDi's in ...

Re: Key fob case replacement - eBay or dealer?
The chrome trim is nice on that one, but its a bit naff having a Bentley badge on your fob if you dont have a Bentley.
We cant get away with using the silver remote from the later models then? Wonder what the latest Touran has as my Touran is the same as a mk4 Golf and Passat.

Key fob case replacement - eBay or dealer?
The fob cases on my remotes are worn. They seem to be cheap as chips on eBay, but is the quality OK? Also do you think I should buy one with a blank blade and get it cut or should I just put the button half together with my old key half? I was planning on doing the latter, but then I thought the dif...

Re: Audi A4 2001 avant (old shape) 115 - opinions wanted
I think I'd rather have the A4 over the Passat. Nothing to do with the badge as I think the Passat has a nicer interior. I just found that the A4 I had felt tighter to drive and handled like a more compact car (it probably is a little bit smaller?...). My A4 had the 90bhp engine which I imagine is s...

Re: paint 12year warranty
My 2003 Touran has bubbling of the paint under the rear window. Unlike wings and the like they cant say its from a stone chip - its obviously from the seal under the window. I never bothered to get my Passat sorted when I had that (same colour silver - maybe something in that?...) so I think I'll tr...

Actually the car started pretty much the same when warm today without the throttle so maybe its not to bad.

1.9 TDi slow starting (when warm)
99 90bhp diesel. High mileage. Remapped (if that's any odds). Starts OK when cold, but when warm you need to give it a bit of throttle to start up. Any idea's please? I seem to recall my brother in law used to have a B5 A4 TDi that you used to have to have your foot flat on the floor before it would...

I used to run them on my 205 GTi's and they were good. They may wear out quickly on something heavier though.
