Re: Just did 2500miles to France

Halfords 580L. Straight fwd fixings, but its really best if you have two folk to fit it. 1 advantage the large one has is that you don't need to be too picky about how it all fits in. The lock is a bit sensitive, but works ok. We were able to lay out suit carriers over suitcases in it.

Just did 2500miles to France

Just back from a 2500 mile trip to France in the black B6 estate with a huge black roof box. 2.0s tdi 140. Fully loaded. 4 adults + roof box + 7 fullsize suitcases + 3suit carriers and a few small bags. Quite a load. Scraped the mud flaps a few times. 95 (kph , or mph - you decide) the whole way. Mi...

Re: supercharged v6, has any one done it on here?

I traded my supergarged 30v in to a VW dealer for a B6. It was bought new from pes tuning. I told them to make sure the chip was sorted for UK fuel. 1 day for a professional to install. I an it for about 60k miles. Never missed a beat. Servicing? I just took it to VW dealer most of the time. Someime...

Re: genuine wheels vs repro wheels

I've jut bought another set of replicas. I hate them but having gone down that route a few years ago, feel a bit trapped (as well as (s)trapped for cash). The reps that most folk get for say 5-700 quid I belive are poo and just not fit for purpose. They need cleaned every week. Not many people can d...

Re: what type of AMG wheels is it that fit's a B5?

Doh! I didn't have email access over the weekend. These were exactly the type I was meaning and definately would have been interested, but I had to get solution asap and have just plumped for another set of RS4 replicas with falkens. I hate replicas as they're just not up to the job. Not many folk m...

what type of AMG wheels is it that fit's a B5?

I'm looking for 18" wheels. Seen a few chaps here with them, but can't find details on the type of offset or spacers required.

That was a bummer waste of time Danski. Hope all is well.

May the forced induction be with you, for a long time.

Cheers. 8)

Re: Your Passat WOW factor

Definately raised a few eyebrows due to the semi-sleeper effect. "Oh no, we've just been out accelerated by a Passat estate!"

By a dark blue Volvo and Mondeo for travelling at a few too many units of distance/time.

Be wary of any car with anything larger than a standard rear view mirror or TomTom in their dash!

Drove it to France. Right through the center of Paris. Brilliant.

Raised a few eyebrows - eg out accelerating a Crossfire & a couple of beemers

Yep. I've done that as well. Try your local tuning furry dice shop. They're pretty good at matching internet offers and you don't have to shop around to get them fitted.

Try awesomegti. They should be able to source them. They got lexus ones for my 2002 estate. The supplier might not state it does 2002, but the earlier years still fit. Mr Awesome said they don't stock them, but they searched and found them from one of their supplier. Awesome said that whilst they di...

you'll get £30 if you are lucky. best thing to do is hold on to them. Typically we all end up getting replica RS4s or simliar and they all flake/get scraped etc etc . or you want a winter set and a nice summer set. The folk selling these replicas shoul all be lined up against the wall and shot. Or ...

Snow? try a 4motion - although the 4motion is brilliant in the dry.

Think you're gonna get the modding bug? 1.8t or a tdi.

You want to buy springs from the 'states?? Remember you'll have about 20% import duty to pay. What about your local tuning shop? Or, I'm sure there's a group buy, or trade contact here who will help. Lowering a 4motion is a brilliant way of improving it. Just go for it. Or, you can lower it 15mm or ...
