If you pull the trim away from the dash under the speedo with your fingernail it stops rattling. Until you leave it for a few hours especially in the sunshine.

Try the locating catches on the rear seat uprights. I had a real problem with a rattle on my Volvo V50. If there is a bit of play wrap the locating pins with a bit of insulation tape.

Well, after looking at the dipstick this evening I'm not entirely sure the oil has actually been changed! I'll ring the main stealer tomorrow for some clarification.

The Sloth (1.6 Bluemotion) had it's first service yesterday at 13 months & just short of 19k miles. I'm sure it's feeling a little quicker. Anyone know if this should be the case?

I transferred my B6 dog guard to the B7 without a problem. It's a straight swap.

Yup, very annoying. Started around 6k and disappeared again at 14k. Still, not half as annoying as the multiple squeaks/knocks/noises emminating from the dashboard. My main stealer has promised to investigate at the upcoming 18k service.

I got a set of mudflaps off ebay. I think they came originally from Poland. Great & easy to fit. No complaints at all. Can't remember how much I paid for them & it was 11 months ago.

I had a creaky clutch pedal. Happily it has corrected itself. If only the dashboard rattles (2) would do the same.....

Halfords do their own but I'm not sure they're lockable. I forked out for Thule ones years ago. They've been on a V50 Volvo, a MB C Class, A BMW 325 Sport Touring, a B6 & now a B7. I've certainly had my money out of them! You may be lucky on ebay?

What sort of speeds were you running? I drove from West Yorkshire to Carlisle and back via Liverpool last Sunday. I kept at the legal limit according to my sat nav (VW speedo 3 mph shy) & managed 52mpg. Very boring & as you say disappointing.

Or is it the ECU making more power available as the mileage increases?

Mine's done 10.5k miles now & feels quicker than when I got it. It's still sluggish though. I need to drop it into 4th on the motorway at 50 or 60 if need to accelerate. With mixed driving I'm struggling to get 50MPG overall ...

I was thinking about this a little earlier. My route to work is around 6 miles but 1.5 miles is a steep hill with numerous bends & singletrack. Many stops & starts with oncoming vehicles. However my B6 estate did 20K miles on a set of fronts. Maybe harder tyres though: Bridgestones.

Tracking is spot on & the pressures are checked weekly when I wash the car. The tread is of equal depth across the tyres. They are continentals too.

Just coming up to 9K & the fronts are almost down to the minimum wear indicators. Continentals. Seems a little premature. What are your thoughts please?

Do you know how to remove the blade on the key fob? If so, do it then lightly lever off the rear mouding by the drivers door handle with a small screwdriver, which will reveal the key hole. If you need any help PM me & I'll give you my number & talk you through it.
