Folks,
Timing belt due on my b72.0 CFFB. Is there a well regarded how to guide available?
Regarding the cam pulley and fuel pump pulley position, where is that read on vcds? Torsion value?
Many thanks

Re: Front strut removal?
Yes it is possible. Leave one top bolt in until you have the bottom of the strut swung into the removal position.
Turn the steering full towards the corner you are removing.

Re: Drivers door not opening from outside
I do not see the Torx revealing itself. Just one grommet available to remove. The write up linked is for a B6, similar tech but different in this case. See attached photo with single grommet circled. What I can see is the window dowel pin just like in this link: https://www.passatworld.com/threads/t...

Many thanks, I will give that a shot.
There is no resistance on the outside handle compared to the working doors. I will know more when I get in there

Re: Drivers door not opening from outside
I have a rear passenger door that will not open from the outside since the outside temperature sat at sub zero for a few days. All door locks were frozen then and I had to use a hairdryer to unlock it. I reckon the outside handle cable has snapped /slipped off. Playing around with it yesterday I foo...

Brake bleeding advice.
I am going to flush the brake fluid when changing the rear discs and pads.
Is plan on using the vacuum adaptor on my oil extractor and suck the new fluid through the lines.
Is there any other precautions or things I should do like cycle the ABS pump on VCDS?
Cheers

The rcd330 is popular, imported from Singapore I believe.
I was going to do it but the fm tuner bands are different so listening to the fm radio would be a nuisance.

Tdi oil recommendations
I know there is big debate on which oil type suits the B5 PD engine best due to the cam setup, what is recommended for the B7 CR Tdi?
Any specific codes to look out for while shopping?

Re: Nitrogen v Air in tyres
I can only see nitrogen being used in car tyres in a race environment where the tyre is subject to extreme high temperatures and possible fire if ambient compressed air is used. Nitrogen is used in aircraft tyres due to the extreme heat loads on landing and also due to the extreme cold temperatures ...

What is the paint warranty period on these cars?
My B5.5 Passat had a 12 year as I recall, got a pair of wings and bootlid agreed two days before its twelfth birthday!

Decided against hardwiring as the cooler box I have is 4amp, the main battery would be at 50% useable capacity when new after 8.5 hours. I will stick with a decent cooler box and rotate ice blocks.

Best source for OEM parts list.
I am going to refresh the suspension front and rear on my B7. Autodoc filters well if I search using the OEM part number. Can anyone suggest a reliable online parts listing of the OEM? My car would be factory lowered 25mm so that would possibly have implications when ordering droplinks and roll bar ...

I enquired about the same for my saloon model in my local motor factors, only the complete arm available.
Look up Sachs or Lemforder, normally highly regarded manufacturers.

Re: Changing pads all round and front discs - Advice?
I use molybdenum grease on the sliders, seems to work a treat, maybe someone else can advise.
Just keep copper grease away from there or any rubber boots etc, it will weaken them.

Re: Changing pads all round and front discs - Advice?
You shouldn't have to adjust the handbrake after a pad change, but have it in your head to see how many clicks are on the handbrake lever while you still have the car raised and wheels off. A wire brush and square file is a must for cleaning up the carriers. Where the pad is meant to be sliding can ...

Boot 12v outlet.
Dissapointed this morning to find the 12v outlet in the boot is on the ignition switch only. I would have expected it to be a permanent live to feed auxiliaries like a cooler box or charge the 12v battery from a solar panel. Had anyone rewired it to a permanent live? Much of a job?
