Re: Shock absorber replacement on b5

I would only change the shocks if i had to, unless you have the cash to splash :D . Please someone correct me if i'm wrong but OEM shocks cost around £500 brand new (all 4). My uncles b5 shock absorbers went at 199,000 miles and we just replaced them with some decent second hand absorbers, bought t...

Re: Most popular wheels?

Not much to choose from in the standard category so it has to be Road America's. I've got some fat fives on my car, but I'm in love with the BBS LM's just like a few other members. It's a shame the genuines cost over 3k, I might consider going for replica's.

b7's compared to previous passat models.

Hi all. Right a friend of mine is looking to buy a car. Because he used to own a b5.5 he wants to come back to the passat but the problem is hes stuck between buying another 5.5 or just splashing out and going for a b7. I just wanted to ask u lot as most of u own one or know a fair bit about them. W...

Re: 6 speed box

Alrite mate. I asked this question a few weeks ago. Basically I was told there isn't anything really specific that you can do to prevent the problem. But its not certain that u will get a problem. Its just a small minority of people who have had this problem, I got loads of replies off people who ha...

Re: Please help! Need a spare key.

You may be able to find a cheap replacement key off ebay, but the programimng will cost u a fair as u will need to get it done by VW. Your looking at about over £100 for programming alone. If you don't mind paying that price vw is the place to, go unless someone else can point you to someone who ca...

Re: Rear Bumper Sticker

I've got and saloon and was hoping to get something to protect the bumper when loading, my old black se was in a right state. I'm hoping to avoid that on my new one. I was thinking whether we can get hold of a rubber boat liner which has some sort of material attached that we can fold in and open ou...

Re: Uprated/Peformance CV Joints

This car has a lot of history behind it. I would say keep it in tact, do a few sensible mods. And unleash it as a show car.

Re: Are my Fat fives to fat for my passat?

Ok. I get Wat u mean with the spacers. First I will need to see how they look really before I can decide on Wat spacers I need. Can they be fitted and driven on without spacers? And Wat offset are ur fat fives?.

Thanks for ur reply. So do u think I should get the TYRES on and fit em straight on. Having a 45+ offset did it effect the ride of the car at all?.

Thanks jonnie ur a top man. Might just go for them but doubt very much that my silver sport will look better than ur black wagon. Personally I think its the best colour! Same as my as my old SE. Cheers mate.

Re: Are my Fat fives to fat for my passat?

Yeh, hopefully they will fit but most of the post I've read, they are saying their alloys have an offset of 35 which is why I need to know what to do. But I have thought of the mirror polished they look really good. Is that pic of the black passat with the 5series alloys yours? If so I hope u dont m...

Are my Fat fives to fat for my passat?

Hi, I've just bought some Audi A8 18" fat fives for my passat 1.9tdi 6 speed sport (53 plate). But unfortunately because i have no knowledge about this i literally need to be spoon fed. Basically the fat fives are 8.5j with an offset of et45. The car hasn't been lowered and i don't think i will...

Re: Avoiding 6 speed gear box problems

Hi, I've read a few posts now about the 6speed gearbox being a headache. The only problem is, is I have just bought a 53 plate130 6 speed. The car is mint with only 40 thousand on the clock with full vw history. I have had it for 3 weeks now and I still haven't got it on the road because I'm waitin...

Re: Avoiding 6 speed gear box problems

Thanks a lot for all your replies. I think I will drive this car with some TLC because this is the first time I've forked out for my own car, my old passat was my dads which he gave to me when I passed which was 3 years ago at the age 17. But I am on the look the look out for some 18's as I'm not to...

Re: Turbo cuts out

I've got the 100hp vw passat B5 SE model. The same was happening to me where the turbo would just cut out and the cars wasn't picking up any speed. i took it to the mechanic who's an old friend of my dad's (can't stand the guy) he checked it and said its your air flow meter. So we changed the air fl...
