Re: Just ordered my 1.4 150 SE Business DSG Estate

I had self seal on my B7, car had a full size spare, so no idea why VW fitted them. Only found out when replacing them. New tyres did not have the self seal and when you compared the weight it was very noticeable. The MPG improved by getting rid if the extra weight.

Yip T2000 I stopped selling on e-bay about a year ago when they started all the "instant refunds" .

Since when was 1st class next day post, even the post office will tell you no guarantee its actually a 2 day service. if you want next day they offer that at silly prices.

Well less NoX = more soot. More work for the DPF.
How do you know its doing more regens? Under normal conditions you should not be aware that they are taking place.

Re: The run up to tighter DPF laws

Yeah some of comments are funny. It is really easy to tell if you have removed or have a hole in the DPF. Just wipe tail pipe black heavy soot = hole or no DPF. Very light coating of more grey colour = working DPF. Not that it could be used as test at an MOT, a toothbrush round corner from test woul...

Re: Miles per gallon

I had a 1.6l saloon from new and best I ever seen was 60 mpg. Generally 48-52 was all it managed. I did find the original tyres had coni-seal in them which killed its mpg. I fitted mich B rated for fuel and rain. This gave the best improvements. I aslo ran tyres 1psi less as gave better across tread...

Re: Road tax when buying/selling car

So I checked my new private bought car and it says it's still taxed, I'm waiting until the end of the month to tax it myself as don't want to pay for last month with only a couple days left. I insured it before I even bought it and my tax will get rebates from next month. The way I see it is yes of...

There is another way that worked for me. Ask the old owner to drive the car to your place and you will run them back home. I would say owners would do this to get the sale over with.

Re: Oil Ash in DPF

No idea why they are calling it oil ash. Soot is caught in the DPF and when regeneration takes place this soot is burnt and the final product is ash. The ash will increase in mass until its time to replace/clean the DPF.

My wife has a HTC M8 and usea Waze. Not as good as it was before Google took over, but still ace free app. Instructions are good and tells you in time, not like others after you have passed the Junction "Turn Left Now" LOL. I don't really need a Sat Nav as I have been travelling about for ...

Either outcome wont see anyone of us normal punters better off. I say get out as Europe is broken and they wont even listen to the threat of UK leaving. They just threaten us if we leave. That's no attitude to take, they should be promoting the good side, but they don't seem to be able to fathom out...

I would be wary of the insurance companies offering discounts. I have a well known brand of house alarm that calls us to let us know what's taken place. We can then chose what to do. My house policy was reduced until I read the small print, If I forgot just once to turn it on no house cover. If not ...

if the new battery has sat since 2011 and never been charged it has most likely become over discharged. this can see it fail to charge or hold any charge. return it if you can.

Re: VED changes in 2017 - Bad news for some.

I can see the queue for the +40K cars being longer than normal this Christmas.

Followed by the just over 40K becoming just under, with the old company car trick, buy it, then buy the options, so the book price is still under 40K.
