Re: Car broken into - no sign of force

Thanks for the quick replies. The reason I ask is another neighbours car, 09 Volvo was broken into twice in a couple of months. Both times there was no sign of forced entry. Bizarre that they tried the lock, we never leave anything on display. We didn't loose that much thankfully. Luckily we didn't ...

Car broken into - no sign of force

Hi all. Had the car broken into last night, new years eve the swines. Wasn't much in the car to take just some parking change and they took the car lighter. The weird thing was there was no sign of forced entry but a neighbours car was also broken into last night and they smashed the window on their...

Re: New cambelt prices London

Gave Chris a call but we need the work log book stamped and guaranteed and he's based the other side of London. There's another garage with VAG diagnostics near us that don't charge the big branded garage rates. Their labour and parts cost are cheaper. Giving them a try mainly to see how they diagno...

Re: New cambelt prices London

Done some more digging into the breakdown and the Camshaft Position Sensor labour, according to a couple of main VAG dealerships, is more than the Cambelt kit and water pump. Isn't there some economies of scale here - that is they've got the cambelt and the pulley stripped out wouldn't that reduce a...

Cheers Dave.

Checking this thread £740 for a cambelt kit, water pump and sensor is taking the p*ss.

New cambelt prices London

Hi Need to new cambelt, water pump and camshaft position sensor fitted for a TDI 07 Estate. Been quoted £740 all in which seems a little on the high side, even for a VAG garage. We live in Earlsfield, just south of Wandsworth. Any garage recommendations to do this either South, South West or West L...

Re: Passat TDI hot start issue (edit: garage sharp practises

According to the garages invoice for 30 mins diagnostics the errors are P3007 (camshaft position sensor signal missing) and P0341 (camshaft position sensor 1 signal improbable). They offered to replace the camshaft position sensor and refit the existing camshaft for around 300 or replace the sensor ...

Re: Passat TDI warm/hot start issue

Took the car to a VW specialist garage yesterday and over the phone they thought this was a coolant temperature sensor issue. They've since said they've needed to update the diagnostics software on the car? And it's now reporting as an issue with the cambelt sensor or crank-shaft-sensor? So one of t...

Passat TDI hot start issue (edit: garage sharp practises)

Hi We've got a Passat B6 TDI (07) that's having problems starting from warm/hot. It starts first time from cold. The exact issue is: run car for a short distance, so engine is over 75 (or so) degrees Turn engine off for 10-20 mins Try to restart. Starter motor will turn over but the engine does not ...

Re: Buying a high mileage (+30k/year) B6 diesel?

Viewed a 80k three year old Passat on Saturday for just under £8k. Only things wrong were the boot floor wasn't fixed down correctly, was moving up when putting down the rear seats, was missing a panel over the rear cigarette lighter and the traction control didn't appear to be doing much. Was gett...

Re: Tell if parking sensors are factory fitted?

Thanks.

I see my insurance quote for non-factory fitted ones adds over £100 to the quote. Would think it would be the other way around.

Tell if parking sensors are factory fitted?

Hi all

How can I tell if a B6's parking sensors are factory fitted? From what I've read they activate when you select reverse, is there an on/off switch on the dash?

Thanks

Re: Buying a high mileage (+30k/year) B6 diesel?

I thought that it was now law to have 12 months warranty on a vehicle, read it on the Honest John column a while ago but it might be worth checking something to do with the European Law. Spoke to a dealer today who offered a free 3-month warranty with all their cars as standard. You could of course...

Re: B6 Full Service Schedule?

What I mean is what, outside of the standard service items, can I expect to have to get replaced or serviced for a car with 70k on the clock? For example I see a few forum posts talk about having to get the flywheel replaced around 75k. If when I have a look at the service history on the B6 the flyw...

B6 Full Service Schedule?

Hi

What's the service schedule for a Passat B6? Got a test drive booked for a TDi 140 PS with 70k on the clock this weekend.

Thanks

Re: Buying a high mileage (+30k/year) B6 diesel?

Sure. Just trying to limit the risk. Will of course purchase my own HPI check and I plan to get the car fully serviced at a specialist German/VW garage who should be able to tell if there's anything nasty on the horizon. Is it possible they could confirm the services and mileage are genuine too? And...

Earlsfield (SW18), we do around 5k a year, maybe a bit more with some motorway trips to my new son's nans.

Buying a high mileage (+30k/year) B6 diesel?

Hi Looking into buying a Passat B6 TDi Estate and have a couple of questions. There's a few 3 years old examples on Autotrader that average 25-30k miles a year. Haven't spoken to the dealers selling them but no doubt they're ex-company cars. Advice I've been getting from friends is to avoid ex-compa...
