Interesting EGR info

Some people may know this, but some people may not. Just read an article related to the EGR valve. The reason it was interesting to me was the fact that I have blanked mine off and although I have read that this is ok to do, it could possibly cause a lot of damage to the turbo. When the gasses are b...

Re: Recall 40G3

Hi Tony sometimes if you phone the main VW dealer and give them your reg they can tell you whether your car has had recall work done, or needs it. They may be able to tell you what this recall is also. I have done this is the past with some of my cars.

Re: hesitation

Hi Andy as desert storm suggested it may be the MAF which are a common problem. Just incase you didn't know don't by a copy if you have to replace it as they are useless i've tried one. My VW dealer discounted a new from them when I gave them the one from my car. I think it cost me around £70. A co...

Re: Help with EGR fault code removal

Cheers for the advice, this must be the ecu that I have on my passat cos it's nearly 8 years old and I have not expierenced the engine management light coming on. This has given me food for thought, as I don't fancy having to keep cleaning the egr and manifold. Spoke to a bloke today at a garage whi...

Help with EGR fault code removal

My wife has a 2005 1.9 tdi 130, I have removed and cleaned the EGR and inlet manifold. I blanked of the exhaust return pipe, as I have done with my own passat. The problem is because it is a newer model than mine it is registering a fault and the engine managment light is on. I have searched the for...

Re: hesitation

Hi Andy I had what seems like a similiar problem with my 1.9 tdi. Don't know if this helps but give it a try. Remove the pipe coming out the top of the egr valve and put a small screw in the end of the pipe. This immediately stopped the problem I had, and leads me to believe I have a problem with a ...

Which colour blue is your car pete cos mine is indigo blue, and I used halfrauds paint just to spray my rear vw badge, but didn't find it was particularly good match. The last thing you want to do is knacker up your wheels :( . I would go the the dealers like one of the other guys suggested. Hope th...

New car in the family

Haven't posted for some time, but thought the new edition to the family needed an introduction. My wife has always loved my sat, and as we have our second child on the way space in her Mercedes A Class was a bit tight, and also the car was a bit dodgy and lots of things started going wrong :( . So a...

Gear selection first and reverse !!

We have just bought my wife a Passat estate, it is a 1.9 tdi 130pd on an 05 plate. Everything about the car is great, but I have one slight query that I could do with some help. Whilst the car is stationary selecting first or reverse gear is quite difficult, unlike my sat which has no problem in sel...

My car made me c**p myself today!!!

I was on my way to pick my daughter up from nursery today, when all of a sudden a huge bang  came from the engine and I lost all the boost. The car was still moving but with a loud noise everytime I accelerated. My heart had skipped a beat and I had no idea what had happened. When I popped th...

Re: Cleaned my manifold and egr

Wow ur egr valve was well gunged up, I thought mine was bad. Im gonna give ur diesel cleaning idea a go as mine was no where as clean as that when I had finished. Did you attempt at cleaning the ports out, I was worried about letting lumps of gunk fall down inside the engine. Glad to hear you maybe ...

That interior is excellent, bet you were well chuffed you saved yourself nearly a grand. Was it a nightmare to get that dash out cos it looks like it could be, I could do with stripping mine out cos i've got a funny knocking noise behind it. I like the custom handbrake and gear lever. Well done bud ...

The screws holding the egr in place where hex screws, and I don't know why but I didn't mention the 6 holding my manifold in place where hex ones also.

Re: Help cleaning dirty manifold

If you have access to a pressure washer id soak it in diesel and give it a blast. Whats this allard egr pipe? Does it blank it off? Yes the blanking pipe completely replaces the egr valve and where the exhaust gases return back to the egr that is blanked off aswell, no more gunge collecting in the ...

Re: Gutless TDi

If you take your old MAF sensor to a VW garage they will reduce the price of a new one. I bought one recently from my local garage it cost about £70.00, without exchanging they quoted me some stupid figure of around £200, Just incase you didn't know.

Hope you get it sorted.

Help cleaning dirty manifold

I took my manifold off today to see how badly it was gunked up after seeing a thread on the forum showing a picture of how bad it can get. Mine was pretty bad :( , so I gave it a blast with some carb cleaner and scraped out as much gunge as I could. The problem was I couldn't get to all of the bends...

R these spring clamps any good

Has anybody used spring clamps you can buy to aid in the lowering of your car. I have had my car lowered but not on coilies so I have no adjustment. The rear end is sitting a little higher than the front and wondered whether these would be any good. I have read some information that says don't use t...

Re: Refurbed my A8 wheels !! updated new pics with centre caps.

I have a theory... truly good looking cars don't need photos taken from low down. If you need to flatter a car, bend down, or even get the camera on the floor. I don't mean to pick you out if you're a very short person, but all your photos seem to be taken from waist height and below? Are you not p...
