Re: dpf regeneration or not?
Tank was half full. I agree that it probably wasn't dpf regen.

dpf regeneration or not?
Last Sunday on the M6 my dsg Passat (tdi,140bhp) went into 'limp' mode after leaving a service area and wouldn't accelerate past 60mph (very scary!); no warning lights appeared. I managed to leave the motorway and got the breakdown people. No faults showed up on their diagnostic unit and the car now...

RNS 510 SatNav Update
Anyone had their RNS 510 updated? Local dealer seems to be confused - not sure about update, date and/or cost of update. Any info gratefully received.

Re: Interior Lights
Really obvious point - you haven't switched the interior lights off accidentally by any chance? The switch in the front light switches both the front and back lights on/off.

Re: Changing car mat pegs - round to oval
They're not just screwed in. I think that the pegs are held by retainers on the back of the carpet; you would have to remove the carpet - not a good idea!

Re: Adblue.......???
AFAIK UK Passats do not use ad-blue; however, I stand to be corrected. If your car does use ad-blue I would be very surprised if the filling point is in a different place to that shown on the USA video. I suspect that the pipe your refer to is the overflow pipe that dumps excess diesel on to the flo...

Re: LED DRL's Fitted
Some time ago I fitted similar LED's but thought that the light was far too blue and was worried that they might attract PC's. However, yours do look white - how does the light colour compare with OEM LED's fitted to Mercs. etc? Also I never succeeded in removing the outer covers; perhaps I just was...

Re: Stop/Start clashes with Auto-Hold on DSG?
Scenario - Pull up at traffic lights with Stop/Start and Auto-Hold activated. Engine Stops. Long wait anticipated so remove foot from brake to utilise Auto-Hold - Engine Starts again. Auto-Hold overrides and negates the advantage of Stop/Start Question - at some point does Stop/Start recognise that...

Re: Mirror Down Function
No, can't find anything at all. Someone, somewhere must know about it as the function is explained in the handbook. The best guess is that it's somehow linked to memory seats.

Re: Press brake to start
I had a March 2011 DSG B7 saloon. The pedal was always rock hard when first starting in the morning; however it always started when the pedal was pressed and the car in park. I complained to the dealer who said it was normal for the brake servo to lose pressure over night. I then changed to a Septem...

Re: Mirror Down Function
Thanks for the replies. The car doesn't have memory seats but does have electric folding mirrors. My wife's Golf also has folding mirrors as well as a mirror down function. However, a friend's Golf has the mirror down function but no folding mirrors.

Mirror Down Function
According to the handbook you should be able to actuate the passenger door mirror down function from the Convenience/Mirror menu. This enables the nearside mirror to dip downwards when reverse is selected so the kerb become more visible. This option doesn't exist in the menus on my Passat Estate. Th...

Re: LED's
Actually, you don't need error free LED's for the interior lights - they're not monitored by the bulb failure system.Ross62 wrote:Hi, I have swapped the three interior bulbs in the back with error free LED's. No problems.

Re: Windscreen condensation
I assume that you've got the air con on? It's a very common idea that air con is only for cooling the car in the summer. In fact it helps dry the air out and therefore stop condensation. Just set the heat to what's comfortable for you and leave the air con on. The days when air con affected fuel con...

Re: Change kmh display to mph
Apparently it's some sort of legal requirement that speed should be displayed in kmph as well as mph. Older VW's (and many modern cars) had/have kmph shown in small numbers on the actual speedo alongside mph. It would be interesting to know if mph is shown on the central display on German, French, e...

Re: RNS-315 or RNS-510
I've had both VW satnavs on Passats. The earlier 315 could only access 5 digit post codes and there was no prospect of an upgrade. VW basically admitted that the 315 was flawed and gave me a £400 'good will' payment. My present Passat has a 510 and whilst it's better than the 315 I think that it's ...

Re: Driving like a past it driver
If you are stationary with the engine running, and undo your seat belt, the parking brake will come on. In other words, don't undo your seat belt until you've finished manoeuvring otherwise you'll have to keep switching the parking brake off.

Re: RNS315 on 2.0TDI Sport - Delivered June 11
Even if the MY2112 315 Satnav has 7 digit postcodes (and there remains some doubt about this) I think that it is extremely poor value. Some people seem to have found that 7 digit postcodes are often inaccurate. You can't insert your own POI's or 'point' to a place on the map and 'tell' the satnav to...

Re: RNS315 on 2.0TDI Sport - Delivered June 11
Final resolution of a sort. I received £400 today as a goodwill gesture; obviously an admission that upgrades to early versions of the 315 are impossible. This result is thanks to an outstanding dealer and salesman who have pursued VW on this matter for months. However, it would have been nice to h...

Re: Wheel locating guide
Thanks for that; I'm thinking along the same lines about a long bolt. I usually lift the car so it's just clear of the ground but even then it's very difficult to push the wheel into place, hold it onto the boss in the centre and then rotate it to line up the bolt holes. Wheels have got a lot heavie...

Wheel locating guide
I'm looking for a road wheel locating guide. IIRC this was a rod about 100mm long threaded on one end that you screwed into one of the wheel bolt holes and then you slid the wheel along it to hold the wheel in position enabling the wheel bolts to be located. I'm finding it very difficult to lift and...

Re: RNS315 on 2.0TDI Sport - Delivered June 11
Some sort of conclusion to this whole satnav mess. My dealer has been outstanding in contacting VW time and time again about upgrading year 2011 315 satnavs. The final admission by VW is that this model/year/type of satnav cannot be upgraded in any way because of licensing restrictions. VW have now ...
