Re: Mud Flaps
I fitted them to my saloon, more to reduce splatter on my caravan when towing. Got a non vw set from eBay and the fitting was dead easy as all the screws are already there. Richard Do you have the ebay details please? I've been trying to get a set for my saloon at a sensible price. The dealer quote...

Re: 1.6 tdi excutive style
IMO the Executive Style has a very hard ride compared to the plainer Executive version. It's got 18" wheels and slightly lowered suspension. If your parents are 'getting on' (like me!) they probably wouldn't appreciate the ride on the Executive Style. Also, how much driving do they do at night;...

Re: 2x bongs sound when unlocking!?
Definitely low battery. Had exactly the same on a Golf until I charged the battery. Eventually the 'bongs' came back and I had to replace the battery. Either a failing battery or the car's not fully charging the battery (lots of stop/start and short trips in cold weather?)

How is the oil changed?
I had to check the under side on my Passat after running over a large brick. I got the car on ramps but fortunately there's no damage. However, it looks to me that the plastic under tray has never been removed, so it raises the question 'How does a dealer change the oil without removing the under tr...

Re: Does it HAVE to be 'genuine' VW adblue??
As Holophyte says check under your spare wheel and compare the space with the photos in the handbook. These generic handbooks are a pain and cause endless confusion. I assume that South Yorks is still in the UK

Out of interest which country do you live in? UK model Passats do not use adblue.

Re: Under seat draws - retro fit
No idea if you can do this, but, before you spend money check the drawer sizes. My wife's Mk7 Golf has the factory fitted ones and they are totally useless. You can't even fit the handbook in them; they're only useful for a phone or keys and other small objects. Unless your children are very small yo...

I bought a pack of these from LedPerf, Grenoble, France -

They're not LED but give a much whiter light than the standard bulbs. Also no CanBus problems.

Re: Drl new bulbs
I'd certainly like to know how you get at the DRL and/or the fog lamp bulbs. The handbook explains how to remove one screw and then pull off the plastic grill that surrounds the lamps; so far I've been completely unable to do this. I've used considerable pressure but with no result so I'm afraid of ...

Re: New tyres returning more mpg on my B7
Lets be honest - most people don't know and couldn't care less, what type of tyres are fitted to their car. I remember asking a friend what sort of tyres his new Astra had. He looked at me blankly and said 'Round, black ones of course'! I've just had two new tyres fitted and was told by the fitter a...

Pollen Filter make?
VW dealer quoted £35 to change the pollen filter; a 10 min. job. Pollen filters are available on line for between £4 and £12 depending on make. Any suggestions for make of filter or are they all similar? Thanks.

Re: Loss of power
This happened to me on the M6 last year - very scary. Managed to get off the M6 and called breakdown. No fault found and no warning lights. On restart the car ran perfectly. VW dealer then did a diagnostic check and found no fault codes. They suggested a dpf regeneration but I've never been convince...

Re: mud flaps!
Don't even think about cheap ebay mud flaps. I've had two bad experiences with Chinese/Hong Kong versions sold by various people in the UK. AFAIK only genuine VW versions fit; also, make sure you get them for the UK estate as the saloon (sedan), Chinese and USA Passats are all different. There's a s...

Tyre Pressure Monitor - over sensitive?
In the recent hot weather the tyre pressure warning light has come on a couple of times. The pressures were set correctly at 38psi all round (Estate) and had gone up to 41psi when the light came on. Obviously, pressures will increase with use in hot weather and I reckon a 3psi increase is perfectly ...

Limp mode, possible dpf regen?
Please excuse me posting this on the b6 forum as well as the b7 but I thought I might reach more experts here rather than just on the b7 forum. Last Sunday on the M6 my b7 dsg Passat (cr,tdi,140bhp) went into 'limp' mode after leaving a service area and wouldn't accelerate past 60mph (very scary!); ...
