Re: TDI 2002 Tensioner. Pulley. Help please
Have driven the car locally for a few days and all noise and vibrating engine problems have gone. I now seem to have a Passat running well. Problem seems to have been cured by changing tensioner. Point of interest, I purchased a tensioner from Ebay for £43 as opposed to £77 pounds from GSF or ...

Re: TDI 2002 Tensioner. Pulley. Help please
Seems it could be a range of things. I will change the alternator pulley and see what that does because it is relatively cheap and then take it from there. Will post results. Anyone know if all the pulleys are the same on the TDI 130 or will I have to take the old one off first with the 33 spline ...

TDI 2002 Tensioner. Pulley. Help please
screaming fan belt and noise, vibration through steering wheel as well as vibrating top engine cover. Tensioner was shot to peaces and jumping up and down so changed it. Belt noise and steering noise and vibration have been cured, but new tensioner is moving up and down slightly, should it do this ...

Re: Help with diagnosing problem please
Why do the alternator pulley if it's working fine. the original pulley sheared off five years ago and I replaced the alternator and pulley. Maybe there is a good reason for doing the pulley?

Re: Follow up to stuck T45 bumper bolt. It's still stuck
put the car in service position this morning. Pulling the front end out about five or six inches does give you more room to remove offending parts. I didn't find what I thought I would. Removed the serpentine belt which looked in good order, its only nine months old. Tested the alternator pulley by ...

Re: Follow up to stuck T45 bumper bolt. It's still stuck
I spent two hours this morning attempting to drill the bolt out. Cobalt drill bits failed and got me nowhere. Finally sorted it by taking advice from earlier post. Cut a groove in the bolt head with a large screwdriver and hammer and then got the screwdriver in the groove and kept at it with the ...

Re: Follow up to stuck T45 bumper bolt. It's still stuck
Just purchased a set of three cobalt HSS drill bits from Amazon, 3mm, 6mm and 9mm. I'm gonner destroy that bolt on Saturday morning if the bits are strong enough. I'm told cobalt bits will do the job. Drill it slowly, smaller bits first, wd40 or three in one oil for lubrication and keeping the ...

Re: Follow up to stuck T45 bumper bolt. It's still stuck
Thanks for the ideas and offer of help. I'm going to see if any of the neighbours have a welder and if not purchase some HSS drill bits and drill though the bolt. I might mess the internal thread up but so what, the bumper will still be held on by three other bolts. Will try again next weekend and ...

Re: steering groaning. Vibration through steering wheel
That's an interesting thought, I have been getting a screaming sound on start up and for a minute or two after driving away. I checked the serpentine belt and it seems very loose. Might this be caused by a failing clutch pulley?

2002 130 Passat SE TDI. Water water everywhere, well its in the offside front and back foot wells. Thought I would try the pollen filter re-sealing to see if that is the problem. Got as far as removing wipers after a good spray of WD40 and a bit of cajoling. Next part was the problem - removing ...
