Nice to see it back running again. I have had 2 W8s and unfortunately ending up breaking them both, one to repair the other before the second holed no 8 cylinder. :(
Lovely cars though, if the engine was more reliable I would have another.
Coincidently I was just going through the shed this ...

W8 Repair Manual
Does anyone have access to or can tell me where I can get hold of a workshop manual for the W8? I need to remove the engine from my car and would like to check the procedure rather than just jump in blind and hope for the best.

Ouch sounds like a lot of work but alot of that seems to relate to getting the spilt and ski hatch integrated. I will dismantle mine at weekend and have a look at what I have.

Re: What are the best oem mods for a b5.5?
I am taking the cruise out my donor saloon to install into my Wagen. If I can get it fitted for £70 I won't even bother trying myself. I would also like to switch the door mirrors to the folding ones off the donor. The donor also has SL500 drilled discs fitted so they will be getting swapped over ...

Rear Seats
Does anyone know if the rear seats in the 4motion cars are different to the FWD cars? I have had a look at my rears seats in the W8 and I can't see why they would be different.

Well touchwood the leak might be resolved. It threw it down last night and unlike the previous rain storm there was no water in the rear footwell. Fingers crossed it stays dry.

Re: steamy windows :(
Just been through this with mine, although mine wasn't (as yet) blocked drains it was a poorly fitted gromit around the bonnet release cable.
The only hard bit seems to be getting the battery out which on mine has proved to be a real pain.

Re: Swimming Pool
Well problem diagnosed and fixed. The gromit around the bonnet release had not been put back and the drain from the scuttle at that point was blocked. Hence scuttle filled with water and poured down through hole and into the car.
Gromit refitted and blockage cleared and no more water leaking in ...

Re: W8 Estate
Quite use to different cars, compared to the rest of my toys the W8 is relatively common. It's purpose is smooth comfortable mileage eater a task it it well set up to do. The fact that it has a fair turn of pace when required is it's and my secret.

W8 club a pretty exclusive club I think.
Mines an Auto, I looked for a manual estate but have never found one but saying that I think the Auto box suits the engines characteristics.

Re: W8 Estate
Out of interest, what sort of MPG do reckon you'll get overall, if you average out the times you drive it like a granny and the times you put your foot down? Might be a bit early to say I suppose.
I reckon if I drove granny style I could get 30mpg out of it but it seems to be settled at around ...

Re: Winter tyres
I have been looking at winter tyres for the W8 and after reading lots of reviews the continental seem to come out on top. The £160 per corner is a rather large ouch.
I have found good reports on the Avon Ice Touring ST which I can get for around the £100 per corner mark. Still a lot of money but ...

Job scheduled for the weekend as well as checking where the bonnet release goes through the bulkhead. Hope it is this simple.
Have dried the car out just hope it doesn't rain again until I have had time to sort the problem.

Re: Swimming Pool
Found some water in the drivers footwell as well so focus is moving towards the bulkhead. Looking through the paperwork the car had a new bonnet release fitted recently so looking for where this passes through the bulkhead might be the first place to consider.

Re: Swimming Pool
No Sunroof but water coming in via some drain makes more sense as further inspection shows little sign of ingress via the door seals.
The drain holes under the battery wouldn't allow water to the rear footwells without getting the front footwells wet, would it?

Re: W8 Estate
It is parked on an incline, hence the low front although even on the flat the back maybe a tad high. It has just had new front springs but I think it will settle out. If not we may go down the lowering route but only a tad.
