Re: Ground clearance
Hi, I owned the same model and year for several years (until it was written off  ) and the only ground clearance issues I noticed were the occasional scraping of the front valance, and the rear mudflaps hitting the tarmac on bumpy roads at speed with a full load in the back. There is (or should...

If you've not already sorted it, this thread may help - I removed and repaired mine many years ago:

Anyone got SY57 LWC?
Hi all, A long shot I know, but does anyone on here own SY57 LWC, a black 57 plate 4Motion Sport Estate? I owned it till last October when it was written off in a RTC. It appears though that it's back on the road (current tax and new MOT showing online). The reason I'm asking is I've got a spare key...

Well, that's the turbo. Not uncommon for some oil to leak past the pipe seals. Given the age of the car doesn't look too bad.

Common issue, search sawtooth on this forum. Usually fixed with 4 wheel alignment.

Re: Front lower arm won’t separate from ball joint assembly
IIRC with mine I undid the 3 nuts to protect the ends of the threads/spread the load then jacked up the under the 3 studs (probably used a piece of wood in between). A couple of blows with a mallet on the arm and it released.

Sounds like the common sawtooth wear problem - lots of info about it on this forum. Mine was cured with a 4 wheel alignment.

Definitely time to heed the STOP! warning then and get it sorted ASAP. A small hydraulic leak could easily turn into a catastrophic one under hard braking.

Re: Headlights MOT failure - dirty projector?
The rear surface of the glass projector lens gets hazy with time (probably in part due to the heat of the bulb). I cleaned mine with some microfibre cloth on the end of a piece of wire (might have been my post you read if it was on this site). A bit fiddly to do but definitely made a difference

Thanks. Managed to install the new ones myself - no special tool needed, just a couple of G-cramps and some judicious swearing!

Hi Mitch,
Thanks for the suggestion. I can only see inserts available from Powerflex, rather than the whole bush. Have you seen a polybush that replaces the entire bush?

Stabilizer bar bush replacement (dog-bone mount)
Hi, Has anyone replaced the bonded rubber bushes (the large round ones in the centre of the front subframe) on a B6? I've got the front subframe off to do some other work and have noticed mine are split and need replacing. They need a VW special tool to press in and out - my local VW dealer won't re...

Re: Pranged it! Door advice appreciated...
Do the doors still open and close OK? If you've not already done so, it's worth checking carefully that there's no distortion to the bodywork surrounding the doors especially the B-pillar. It's often surprising how much 'unseen' damage can be done by a relatively low-speed impact.

Re: EPB Replace problems
Do you have a battery charger connected while doing the setup?
Was it definitely a failed motor and not a worn spline drive/socket (happened on mine)? On mine the motor just ran for a long time as it wasn't driving anything - needed to replace the caliper too, not just the motor.

Re: SACHS, KILEN, LESJOFORS coil springs - same company?
I replaced the rear springs on my 3C5 recently - genuine VW parts - and they had the same colour-coding marks as the originals, so it doesn't sound like yours are OEM parts. But they're from known manufacturer, and with their propensity for breaking it's not like the originals were top-quality!

Re: What oil pressure psi?
When I start the car cold its idling at around 40 but then slowly drops as the car warms up. When it hits full temp its idling (9000rpm) at around 10psi. At 2500rpm its at around 25psi At 3000rpm its about 30psi It follows this path. Checked mine when hot today: 4 bar (about 55 psi) at 2000 rpm At ...

Re: What oil pressure psi?
My BKP 140 with 152k miles agrees with the figures given in this post:
http://www.ukpassats.co.uk/phpbb/viewto ... 35#p701989
Idle pressure can drop to about 0.7 bar (approx. 10 psi) when hot after a long run. Haynes manual quotes minimum 2 bar at 2000 rpm, mine hits about 3 bar.

Re: Rattling on rear passenger side 06 b6 estate sport
Have you had a really good look at the springs? The lower coil was broken on one of mine and was difficult to see without taking the wheel off and looking down from the top - the MOT tester didn't spot it! However, I didn't have any noise from it, so may not be your problem.

Re: Handbrake. Auto' release?
So I guess I'm looking for a definitive answer to, " Should the handbrake release automatically when moving off even if I don't have Auto hold". Yes, it should. I've found the EPB auto-release to be a bit temperamental on my 2007 BKP-engined estate. I couldn't get it to release automatica...

When the oil pressure switch was playing up on my BKP, the low oil pressure warning only came up once the revs exceeded 2k rpm, so starting the engine and just letting it idle wouldn't show up the warning

Re: Epb fault info required
My NS EPB failed over the summer, and the cause was wear in the spline shaft caused by minor corrosion. The motor was still working fine, but the splines had rounded off preventing it from winding the caliper in and out. I removed the motor and released the parking brake with a spline bit - less tha...
