Advice on cv boot please
Hi, at last mot I was shown both cv boots cracking but not leaking yet and was told to keep an eye on them. In the 8 years I had my Passat I already changed the nearside twice and the offside 3 times. Can anyone suggest a brand that is going to last? I saw on wheeler dealers Ed China using blue rubb...

Re: Driver's side still wet??
Mine was soaked and there was a gallon of water sloshing in the well.
I used a wet and dry vacuum to suck up most of the water.
Then with the rare 2 dry days i kept the carpet lifted with pieces of wood and doors opened for the 2 days.
Dry as a bone.

Re: Driver's side still wet??
Ok, got around to do the doors again. The rear one was bad, probably i had used a cheap silicone and had failed. The butyl strips suggested by BIG F@ TW@ worked perfectly. They grip the cart and when you bolt it, the paste squashes perfectly. Dry now. I hadn't done the front one and once i opened it...

Re: Driver's side still wet??
Thanks!
One last thing, would this 8mm (a bit thicker) be better?

Or you have experience with what you linked and recommend it?
Thanks a lot, i really appreciate your advice.

Re: Driver's side still wet??
Thanks for all your input. Today we had a lot of rain in 10 minutes, went out and lo and behold both door seals are leaking in the gap between plastic trim and rubber. So, next task is to seal them again. I have done that a few years ago with silicone. Somehow when i hosed them they didn't leak. Mys...

Re: Driver's side still wet??
Yes, done that on all 4 doors and retested the other day.
Water comes out from drain holes as intended.
Could it be the pollen filter seal even though the water is on the driver side?

Re: Driver's side still wet??
Hi, sorry to resurrect an old thread, but here is my problem. I found water pooling under driver side front and back. I always kept plenum chamber extremely clean and got rid of grommets years ago. When i flush water on the windscreen it goes down the hole under servo and battery without obstruction...

Which one will be fine, the one posted by me or the kit posted by 1.9 tdi?Critical_Mass wrote: ↑Fri Oct 18, 2019 2:50 pm It'll be fine. Looks to have the attachment for pistons without the pin locations. Cant remember if the rears have them or not.
Thanks

I saw that same kit, but the last thing i want is to start working on the brakes and fond that i don't have the correct tool.
Can you confirm that your one works for a b5?

Rear Brakes winding back tool
Hi everyone, can you please guide me towards a winding back tool for rear brakes on my Passat B5 estate? I saw this at eurocarparts but they can't confirm if it's suitable: https://www.eurocarparts.com/p/streetwize-2-in-1-brake-caliper-rewind-tool-set-548775801?type=shopping&gclid=CjwKCAjwxaXtBR...

Re: Which seat fits my B5?
Ok, probably pure luck but my friend's friend has got an a6 c5 seat in leather for sale and i'm gonna have a look at it tomorrow afternoon. 100% that it is a straight swap? Unfortunately I can't take the passat there because my brother borrowed it to go camping and he'll come back Tuesday. Thanks fo...

So audi a6 c5 fits straight on?
They're still 12 year old cars, i wonder if there's a decent seat lurking around a scrappy
Sorry.

Which seat fits my B5?
Hi everyone, my driver seat has collapsed overtime and become quite uncomfortable despite the cushions. So, I am searching for another one but of course any other B5 seat will be as bad or worse than mine given the age. My question is: can I easily fit, without expert modifications a seat from a yo...

Re: Need to change front disc and pads? Recommendations?
I fitted brembo all around and it cost around £100 discs and pads from eurocarparts.
They usually have a 60% off brakes at weekend.
Not difficult to do at all on passat.
My friend lent me a piston winding back tool he "borrowed" from a vw garage, but it can be done with a g-clamp.

Re: Looking for a good VAG mechanic
i know how to get to the caliper off point, then i would be lost if the rear caliper are seized having still original brakes.
