Re: Help wanted please, intermittent rattle/ buzz in dash!!

If you have auto wipers it may be the surround around the rain sensor behind the rear view mirror. That is what it was on mine, but it sounded like it was coming from the centre of the dash. Just hold it when the noise comes to see if it is that.

Re: Heated wing mirror not working.

I got an oem one on ebay for £18, the mirror glass is the same on a golf mk5 and jetta so you can use one of them as well if you can find one. Watch out for the left hand drive ones as they don't have the wide angle blind spot.

Re: Gear knob options?

I have been struggling to find one too, the silver bit at the base of the gear knob has started to come away and I can't get a replacement anywhere. Every breakers yard I contact don't have them. I can only get one for an S'model (not leather) and its is £60  So I would appreciate any help a...

Re: Getting put off buying an b6 now

If you get a 2008 model, which is anything from around Aug/Sept 07 they have the new EPB caliper module fitted which I have been told doesn't go wrong. I have it fitted to my car which was registered in Oct 07. Check the chasssis number has 8E or 8P in it.

So that takes that one out of the equation.

Re: Service intervals

The Service schedule booklet in my car says 150000km/100000 miles NO time limit for 4-cyl unit injector engines. My car is a 2007 2.0TDI (BKP). I haven't had mine done yet and it is on 65000 miles and just over 5 years old. Confused :???:

Mine does the same, squeaking back brakes when first used. I read somewhere it indicates rear pads may need replacing soon, don't know if it is true but I am just ignoring it for the time being.

My boot socket wasn't working and it was the fuse blown. It was in the right side fuse panel (drivers side) can't remember the fuse number but it was a 20amp one.

Re: Basic Info

The driving position is very similar to a golf the only difference is the seat doesn't go as low as the golf. The lumber is electric on all b6 passats apart from s models that don't have any. The fuel economy is great for such a big car 42 round the doors and 53 on motorway runs Servicing is similar...

I would definitely not turn it down for £1000. You would get more than that for it if you sold it on with the fault.

Re: What is my instrument cluster display type called?!

You are right they are not the same, the one in the last picture is the same as in my wife's scirocco. The temp gauge is not displayed constantly has to be scrolled round for. No car picture for open doors etc so defo not a highline module.

Re: Help! My Keyfob!

If you still have the original key and I presume the battery is OK, it may have gone out of sync. If you press the open button on the fob and then open the drivers door manually with the key within a minute it may sort it.

Re: B5.5 vs B6 ???

It all comes down to how it has been looked after and a lot of luck I had a B5 Passat that spent a total of 6 months in the garage due to electrical problems it was only 6months old. I have had 2 BMW's that had their faults, in and out of the garage sometimes fixed sometimes not. Airbag faults, faul...
